Fred,  I believe that some people do believe they can get away with it. 

There are robberies that ridiculous, reported, unreported & brilliant. However, they come under the same category always and without exception: The perpetrator is POOR in spirit. Poverty of spirit where the soul starves

I bet she has a great deal to blog about now.

Lots of people try this stuff. Hope she does NOT get away without significant punishment. One has to wondeer about the security of their systems.

I know a family who is facing foreclosure. Grand daughter has the  same name as owners wife. She was able to change the ownership to her's and managed took out mortgage. She is at large. 

She likely thought so and thinking so was yet another mistake.

I think, it is addiction. They start with small sums and since they are not caught fast, they move to more money. 

Hard to believe she was able to steal this amount of money..it's fraud and she needs to be dealt with a harsh penalty.

I think she should be put in jail for a long, long time.

Some people believe they are above the law! Some of our politicians are prime examples!

Jail is a good destination for her if she is guilty.

Law breakers always think they can get away with it, or they probably wouldn't attempt it.

Lucky she didn't live and work in a small town, the family would have to move.

Yowzer, how could she have taken that much money without someone noticing it was missing earlier? She is in a mess of trouble!

I just wonder how it took so long to catch.

It amazes me what some people think they can get away with. 

Many years ago, one of the city's leading title attorneys did something like that and wound up in Club Fed - Allenwood Federal Penitentiary.  This is never a good career advancement strategy.

It starts a little a time and then mushrooms and yes I think people like this know it will eventually come to an end and they will get caught. We had a couple of escrow officers in our area that did this too but not at that level. They each took 2 or 3 hundred thousand.

Money is so tempting and humans are so weak.  Unfortunate for all involved

Saw something like this happen to someone a few years ago.  She lost five homes, including her own, because the property management company's employee was buying jewelry with the rent checks.  I was lucky enough to get one of her homes, that a friend of mine was living in and keep his roof over his head.  Wish I could have afforded more.

Obviously, she gave it a whirl .... epic fail (which is good).

Apparently she thought she could.

Fred Griffin She would have been better off robbing a bank. She may have gotten away with that. The penalties are pretty stiff in my State for violating Escrow regulations.

There are many in jail now that thought they could get away with it. Eventually, the paper trail and law catches up with them.

Unless she has a hidden desire to go to prison, I would say, yes, she expected to get away with it.  They're too dumb to know how dumb they are.

Fred she is not the first and won't be the last. 

We had the same think in Colorado last month with a company.

I remember one real estate broker/owner running off with his escrow account money!!! that was during my first year i real estate in 1978...welcome to the world of real estate....

You always wonder what a person like this could do in life if they used the same guile to positive ends. 

Not surprised, which is why I have my buyers use an attorney for escrow.  At least if an attorney absconds with the money, they will be disbarred.

What's going to happen to her?  Not much.  She is a title agent...a nobody...it does not even say she is a licensed RE agent. Whats going to happen to those that referred her?  Nothing.

There is so much "affiliate business" arrangements (and illegal kickbacks) in Florida that the title companies can't afford to  hire competent help...and obviously suck at any oversight to other peoples money.

Embezzlement is not a new crime, and most think that it will just be for a while and that they will get the money back before anyone notices.

Most are connected to a drug or gambling problem, and they generally destroy much more than themselves.  I am sure there will be repercussions for this girls family as well.
