Less government intervention is best. I am afraid to speculate what they are considering but possibly: The price you can sell YOUR property.

I think I will stop speculating in fear of raising my blood pressure.

Bad, anything they do is bad but now it will be compounded with stupid regulations & scads of paperwork!

We will all be barcoded.

It would not surprise me, probably prompted by the likes of Z and redfin, but it will backfire, since the fed generally writes the laws while listening to the lobbyists who pay the best.

That all depends on if they are working to keep those who want to gut our industry or keep it intact and prevent scammers from getting into the business.

Depends on what the regulation is.  If it is to regulate scammers, I'm all for it.  Perhaps it is not "collaboration" so much as industry input and oversight???  Not enough information to have an opinion.

There is nothing to this. NAR does not create reguylations for us in fact I wish that NAR would do more but the state has the right to set regualtions, not NAR. What NAR does is try to influence policy like where recently they were able to reduce the student loan repayment plans so the backend ratios will not hold some back from buying a home. For those who spread rumors becuase you hate NAR try to get involved and see how lobbying is done.

I believe it is good to have input.  A Voice in policy making can not be bad. Our district lawmakers in Florida simply understand this part of real estate while we are out there "making a living" with our buyers and sellers.  Policies will change over time and our voice is heard thru our lawmakers.

Well, NAR has something to do with the membership fees we pay, so they find the most ''important'' issues to solve.

It's normal for federal agencies to consult with trade associations or other representatives of the industries they regulate.   And I guess NAR is ours.

How can more regulation ever be bad?  LOL!!  Lord, I hope this isn't true but it sure wouldn't surprise me!

Maybe a bad piece of regulation will finally make people stand up and say "enough is enough" and leave NAR en-masse and/or form a competing organization?
