A little biased here (I work for a real estate school), but...here is what a potential student needs to decide:
1) Live or online study?
2) Who provides a good education for that format and why? (Go to Yelp, read about the product, contact people at the company, see if trials are available, understand the philosophy, provided products and services, etc.)
3) Now money comes into play. Can I afford this course of study? If I can't, does the school offer payment plans or some form of promotional discount?
I could go on, but I want to avoid bias and telling you what people should look for. And a real estate education in a school will never be comprehensive. Schools prep you for the exam and (hopefully) talk to you a bit about what actually getting started looks like. This includes finding the right broker and support system to learn the rest of the trade on the job.

Check what suits the best your schedule and your budget. Now, for renewals of my license I choose the cheapest online option available at that time.

I haven't been to real estate school in ages.... I get my ce from one of the top schools in town and have been for 18 years. Haven't looked at anything else.

Chiedo,
It depends on how they teach. First I know myself and I know how I learn best (classroom). I would find one that teaches to how I learn. Then I would look at reviews and get the insights from others in the area.
Thankfully all my schooling is done and I only have to worry about CE credits now, which are a whole other ball of wax!

in my area, they're all the same....just pick one and learn the material.... spend time interviewing AFTER YOU'RE LICENSED....that's the important time....selecting a place to hang your shingle....

Chiedo Marketing I'm a little biased here too. I taught for Moseley Real Estate Schools. They have a good curriculum and a good pass rate for students.

I did mine online when I started - I would never do it again, I went with price myself since some of the extras are worthless anyway

I went to Bert Rodgers on the advice of a friend in 1984. I have been with them ever since (for continuing ed online every 2 years).

I use Moseley. They have a good long standing reputation in this area. I combine that with other clsses throughout the year provided by some title companies, lenders, and the state.

I took the online course through our state Realtors Assn, and attended a review session with a local brokerage.
Cost about $150, and they prepared me well, passed without any problems.

I use 2 different online schools for much of my CE each year. The selction of classes makes a diffference for me when choosing.

Chiedo Marketing - I trust myself! That means cost becomes the factor....

Kaplan. They offer various delivery options. Friendly instructors and customer service has always been good.

Price should not be the only deciding vote. I would go with reputation, quality of education, recommendations from others, etc.

Kaplan...price should not be a consideration..If it is, you don't have the resources to get started

I choose based on cost - I just take the continuing ed courses to get through my licensing requirements so my consideration is cost based.

There is one online source I use, and I noticed you didn't mention it. It's VanEd. I've taken online courses from them for nine years. I guess I'm familar with how they work. I used VanEd to take most of my GRI courses, because I live in a rural area, and the classes weren't offered around here.
I really prefer the classroom experience, though, and tend to take most of my classes in person.

I try to do mine at sessions given by local title attorneys. I can usually find great stuff offered by my local Board.

The courses should be whatever the state requires. Ask for passing on first attempt percentages on the state test.

It is very simple in my jurisdiction. The one and only choice is selected by the regulator.

CE
license
For CE probably over cost and what you want out of it.
License-suggest a live classroom. These online classes in my opinion is not effective.
