A decade ago?  VERY important.  Today?  Not nearly as important as I'm found in far more ways than my site.  Social media is huge for me and of course my blog.

Most agent websites are so cluttered with crap that they are useless, much better to concentrate your efforts on your blog where you can distinguish yourself from the competition and gain tons of seo.

When I was an active agent my website and blog were the most effective in lead generation (75% of new business).  Social media aside, if I were a new agent now, I would definitely have an IDX website that I can easily customize at will... AND post obsessively to my blog.  

My website is very important and my other Social Media posts help generate leads to my website.

     It's the hub of the wheel.  My social media sites are out on the ends of the spokes, pulling everyone to the website.   But the social media sites act as "mini-websites"; often the leads come from Twitter or LinkedIn or ActiveRain.

My approach is similar to Fred Griffin's. Everything I do via social media is geared towards sending consumers to my Wordpress site where they can get local/national blog content, market reports, IDX feeds, etc.  

Website still is #1 for us followed by social media. 

We develop relationships with people on our website. Search is secondary. Connection and telling a story is more important. 

So we have a lot of niche websites in different niches and speaking to different avatars.

It's very important to me.  Not sure if its very important in the big scheme of things.

My website is very important to me, it is a part of my branding and how I am best able to market myself and my listings.  I control the site and what technology I can use and what I can say.

Search feature?  Buyers out here go to Zillow/Realtor/Redfin.  No one goes to an agent site or even our direct portals to the MLS.  I took down my search page.

My site's biggest attraction are the blogs and the area information.  That pulls in the most search engine traffic.  Links from the real estate portals drives the majority of the traffic to my listing pages.

Less people seem to use website to search for listing since there are so many options available these days for the public to search. Even our mls provides a search site for the public. Websites are important for other things though.

We have a better search service than most local agents and much better than Z or T so we do get good leads and new business just from our site. But it isn't the driving force.

I think it's become less important - there are far too many places for buyer to search for homes, and I get found in lots of different ways. And I offer multiple search options anyhow.
