I don't give gifts. Does your attoney give you a gift or your doctor? I provide a nice "closing envelope" for their paperwork and I make a contribution in their name to Children's Miracle Network and sent them a letter and certificate saying so. Also send a welcome to your new home card thanking them for trusting me to help them on their home buying journey.

It depends on the buyer. First time buyers appreciate almost anything. How about a tree for their yard.

I like to give the atomic clocks. I also taylor my gifts to the buyers. Like you I like to give something that will last. For my next closing the buyers are going to get a gift certificate to my favorite greenhouse so they can start planting the fruit trees they want to.

I don't give gifts anymore. I do like Evelyn Johnston's idea of a catered housewarming party. See her blog about the hot dogs.

I don't do closing gifts, but if I did I'd go with something personal geared toward's the client's likes/hobbies/interests or I'd make them something yummy. Other options are grocery cards or a meal being delivered on move-in day. Growing up, every time we moved it was Pizza for dinner while unpacking, so I'd think a good pie would be my go-to idea.

Self-inking stamp with their new address. Your info emblazoned on the stamp so they will see your info every time they sit down to do the bills.

Good communication and your time.
Material gifts, well you have to know your client well, as it should be a reflection of "I listened to you, I paid attention to you, I know you well now."

I never felt compelled to give gifts but when I did it was something personalized to the individuals. As their agent, you get to know them and can come up with something just for them. A nice note telling them how much you enjoyed working with them is really enough. You know where they live, so be sure to keep in touch!!!

There is no "best" IMO - I prefer to give a personalzied basket that I make based on what I know about them or their purchase
All baskets I make come with my business card magnet, bookmark (marketing), hurricane preparedness magnet
Others as Example:
Condo buyers with kids: get a basket with beach towels, sand buckets and shovels, water bottles and popcorn and more
Home buyers: small tool kit, flashlight, popcorn and more

I don't believe in settlement day gifts (as if we are done). I believe in House Warming gifts that show we are never finished interacting with each other .

Hard to make it memorable one a last-minute basis, but you can present it later. Something lasting might be a plaque with their new address that they could use. A simple gift could be a bottle of wine or candles or a plant.

Thank you everyone! I have decided to buy pizza lunch for moving day-I have been with these buyers for 8 months, looking, writing offers, being outbid and I'd like to do something special for them. All of these ideas are great and will help me tailor my gifts based on the client, if I continue with closing gifts-I've seen some other cute ideas online too! As usual Active Rain has really helped!

Biggest rave was the dinner and breakfast I provide for a family of 4 moving long distance to the island. First night everyone was tired and dinner - including the kids' favorites - was delivered early, complete with wine for Mom and Dad and dessert for all. Breakfast the next morning was already in the frig (eggs, milk, juice) and in the gift basket of fresh baked island muffins, Ahahola Granola, papayas, mangos and Kauai coffee.

Ari Taylor if they are first time home buyers, best gift is a year of home warranty.... (little expensive, though...)
