The primary purpose of Adwerx is "brand recognition". However, it can be an excellent lead generation tool as well. Key is "where are you sending the traffic?".
This question is answered here with a few examples: http://postaprop.com/blog/adwerx-how-to-use-it-for-lead-generation/
Adwerx, like other forms of online marketing such as Facebook ads, pay-per-click ads on Google, Bing, etc., can be a traffic generating tool. If you send the traffic to a page designed to capture leads you'll convert more clicks into leads. Sending the traffic to the home page of your agent site? That's a mistake. But one that's easy to fix.

I do not. I don't use services that allegedly generate leads. The real estate industry seems to be big suckers for these services ... all the while the companies profit from agents who get little to nothing from what the service sells.

I get emails from them saying someone in my area has signed up for their ad service and I look at who it is and most are not even close to my area. Does it work...I don't know but did look into it and it's very expensive. I don't think so, it's not for me. I don't know anyone who has but will be interested in the comments here in case someone has.

Sorry, I don't use them. In general I'm not a fan of any service that tries to sell me something I can do easily on my own.
Here's an inman article from 2014 that's publicly readable on the company: http://www.inman.com/2014/02/27/adwerxs-remarketing-ads-for-agents-and-listings-follow-prospective-buyers-as-they-surf-the-web/

I'd like to warn you about their business practices. I had been using their service for a year. On the day of my renewal, they automatially charged my credit card for another full year. I called them within 30 minutes of the credit card charge (I have alerts on my phone) and wanted to cancel the renewal. They were only willing to refund me for 3/4 of the amount charged and kept over $200 as a credit on my account.
Regarding the quality of the service, I can't say that it made any difference on my business.

I haven't heard any success stories on Adwerx. I know several agents in my area that used it for awhile. They no longer do.

No experience. I understand it is about branding and/or lead generation. Be careful before sending any money!

It sounds like Kenneth J. Jones has had a bad experience with them. It is my policy not to pay for leads, becuase it is usually a waste of money.

I haven't noticed any increase in activity from them. My impression is that you can live without them.

For general image advertising, maybe they add something, I do not know.
I used them once for a property that was condo ownership, townhouse style in an area not known for any condos. When agents searched for townhouses in the area, they were searching fee simple, so our condo listing was just not getting shown. I ran an Adwerx ad showing a photo, naming neighborhood, and within a week, I had 2 offers - both agents said their clients had found the property, they had not. The condo fee was super low, the property well priced, it was just not getting seen by agents.
Purely anecdotal, but I would use them again for a similar situation.
