I'm always saying: I'm not perfect; and I am not afraid to be vulnerable. People do not like perfect. It is ok to tell that you do not feel good or you had a bad day or you are upset and why. I'm open and honest. Why not?

It shows in how you practice your business. Saying you are honest are just words but your actions will provide the truth.

Honesty is paramount and what you see is what you get...I don't try to be anything else

I think being honest encapsulates far more than simply revealing your flaws and vulnerabilities. Honesty is being truthful in your dealings - it's more the lack of subterfuge than the presence of the opposite.
We're like layers of an onion, I've heard it said. We reveal different layers to different people. It's instinctive to hide your limp - it's an evolutionary disadvantage to reveal your weaknesses.

I bought something expensie online and received a double shipment by mistake. I shipped the extra package back to the company with an explanatory note and was surprised when I received a thank you letter. They actually said "Thank you for your honesty."

There is an interesting book out called The (Honest) Truth About Dishonesty by Dan Ariely. An interesting read.
As for myself, I'm a fairly honest person. "Fairly" in that I will not reveal all or, like Ryan, purposely expose weaknesses that can be taken advantage of.
I am far from perfect, but not revealing my weaknesses or imperfections doesn't make me dishonest. It makes me a self-preservationist. Who is going to protect me if I don't?
I can't say I agree with any finding that people are getting more honest.

I remember when I was in New York at Grimaldi's Italian Restaurant. I went to the head and watched as a guy's wallet dropped from his pocket as he left. I chased him down (had to follow him throughout the restaurant) and gave it back to him. He was SHOCKED (as was his buddy and their ladies), even to the point of saying "You're not from around here, are you?" It was all the money they had for their date night. They were most thankful. They stopped by after my party was seated and thanked me again and even sent my family and I a dessert. One of my best memories of that trip!
As far as showing a limp/vulnerability/weakness absolutely not! I am humble and show humility, but I do not expose any weakness that can be taken advantage of. Being yourself and honest in your business dealings is the best way to establish trust and integrity.

We are only human, after all! Honesty is key to longevity in all dealings with others. Definitely a trait better learned at an early age.
