my results were NOT those the news I saw today or the video you shared were.  Nor did it fill in what the video said it would.  My results were skewed in the direction I lean.  I think google watches and knows us and perhaps even employees lean a different direction than I do, but I do NOT buy the conspiracy theory their algorithm is biased.  I tested it.  It wasn't.

Of course they are skewing what we see based on our interests and search patterns. It is exactly how I would monetize my company if I owned Google or Bing. Afterall, how much are we paying to use these search engines? Nothing and we know they are making billions.

I started using Bing a couple years ago when doing my website and searching for keywords.  I noticed Bing had more revelant results when I searched for <city>, <state> real estate, etc....  By page two on G with the same keywords, I was getting real estate attorneys and other paid crap.  Since I signed up for Bing Rewards last year, I have also gotten over $80 in Amazon .com gift cards just for everyday searching!

The problem I have with big G is it's main revenue comes from data..... your data.  If you read their terms and conditions, it states they will use your data to sell off to "trusted" third parties for advertising purposes.  No wonder they offer everyone so much free stuff like email, docs, storage and more.  I even read where their Chromebook settings are shipped out defaulted to send your search data to them automatically.  You have to manually turn off that feature if you can find it.  They even have gotten into a majority of public schools now, but they say they don't collect the data on students anymore.... wink wink.  Yeah right.  Brainwash them while their young.

If I were using Google to help me decide for whom to vote, I'd have a problem with it. But since I use it to search for things, all of which I know how to spell and therefore don't need the auto-complete function, I have no problem with Google at all.

Fred Griffin Google denied any wrong doing. However, there was a distinct difference in what certain word searches came up with compared to Bing. Google, Facebook, etc. all have their own agenda.

It depends on what you want to search. Most is uncredible.  That  is why good blogs are more meaningful when it comes to real estate sales.

Hi Fred... I heard this report this morning on the news. Why am I not surprised? Didn't they have this same issue playing out with the curating of news on Facebook a short while ago? I use Google to search for work related things, but admit I don't use any search engine to search for much else.

For a great many things, Google is the only search engine to use.  However, those things are far from politics and big money.  This was an eye-opening conversation Fred Griffin , thank you.

I don't care for the tactics used, but I have to hand it to the bright spark who thought of the search manipulations for creativity and, let's be real here: sooner or later, it was going to happen, and may have been happening for years but we only learned of it now.  If anyone is going to judge Ms. Clinton for a tactic like that, forget it.  Look at the tactics used by Mr. Trump.  As Jesus said, "let the first among (us) who is without sin cast the first stone."  I'm watching.  I am glad my eyes are now open wider than before.  But I'm not throwing any stones.

Trust? I don't put trust in any services like this. Do I use Google? Yes, it is by far my preferred search engine. For my searches Bing and Yahoo almost always produce a mess of less well-related links.
