I'm all about quality over quantity. But there are some things that are perfectly fine to buy "cheap."

I used to think that but no more. Best price but I do research the item first.

Example being a Sony TV - not paying the extra $$'s anymore for that name. I've now got an LG & it looks better at 1/2 the price.

Not sure what Custom Craft is - so it has to be WM - but I do focus on some name brand products that I won't use generic for.

Quality.  You will pay for more "cheap" in the long run.

Exceptions:  auto parts (motor oil, filters) from Walmart, ammunition from Walmart.

I'm now on the fence with this one.  I've always gone for quality 100% but I've found my items last far too long now and they're out of date long before I can bring myself to replace them or update!

Just had this conversation the other day.  I was telling someone about the first I splerged on bed sheets.  I wanted something that wouldn't knot.  I've been using those sheets for 14 years.  So in the end they cost me less per year than the cheap ones I used to toss.  Quality gets my vote every time.

It depends on the item and how important it is.  What's it for?  How long do I expect to use it?  I'm not a name brand extravagant type, but hate to waste my money.  I do research before buying big ticket items.

For me it really depends on the item.  For example when I tiled our bathroom tub and put in tile flooring.  I bought a cheap $139 wet tile saw and it worked perfect.  I don't lay tile for a living, so why purchase the big wet tile saw for $800+ with all the bells and whistles.

It depends on what I'm buying!  Asprin, I get the generic Walmart/Costco brand.  Same formula, 220mg acetomeniphren and a hint of caffeine.  You can't screw that up, so why pay retail?  Bandaids and candy bars, DOLLAR STORE, BABY... YEAH!!! (as Austin Powers would say).  Many companies, such as the people who make reading classes, are required to provide those stores with the same product but at a lower price point.  They may use a different "private label" brand, but it is no different than buying a Lexus instead of a Toyota... and the end of the day you're getting Toyota parts, chasis, engine, etc. but with a "luxury name".

Now if I'm buying something serious like a gun, ammo, computer, car, etc. I'm going for the name brands (but at a reasonable price).

I guess you can sum me up at: If it's disposable/single use/not critical to life, then I shop for price.  If it is mission critical, protects something of value or my life depends on it, I'm paying for a good brand.

Some things Walmart is not only cheapest, but the best as well.

For other things I may be likely to purchase elsewhere.

Depends on the item, the need, my budget at the time and plans.  Typically look for the best balance between quality for the price, regardless of the store.  Walmart is not convenient so Costco or other options will generally be compared.

It depends on the consequences.

Example: I never buy the Power Ball Ticket at the Wallymart because if I won, the world would be made aware and  I would be identified as a Walmart person. (consequence)

Wood mulch has little consequence, so the lower the price the better.

Gulf of Mexico Grouper would never be trusted to Walmart but Crest tooth paste not a problem.

Im willing to spend more - to a point.  It definitely depends on what it is.  I might spend 10-20% more.  I hit up Walmart for staples (not "staples"), grocery and stuff like that.  I might order dress shirts online or get them at Nordstrom but I might grab a pair of shorts at Walmart.  It is usually an impulse buy.  Now electronics - definitely Walmart/Amazon/eBay because they are a commodity
