Yes, I told my client to hang half out the window and I'll grab a TV be in the driveway for when the cops arrived. No biggie, when it's the listing team's fault. Have fun with your day, it's real estate not oncology.

I haven't, but I've had it set off in a couple of my listings -- usually because the seller forgot they turned it on.

Yes Debbie, people are not like they were in the 60's and 70's life will never be the same..............
I am sad about that.

Debbie,
There is no chance of that on that high end. The listing agents have to be there in our area,, and the estate manage is the one in charge of alarms, lights etc. A

An alarm can certainly kill the moment. I have not had this happen.

Debbie Reynolds happend once with me - and police arrived!
Ideally, the listing agent should instruct the seller not to set the alarm while the home is listed. I know it's not safe.

Yes, once, and then one time when I was previewing a higher end home. I was specificlly told by the agent the alarm would be off. It wasn't, and I knew the second I opened the door. Fortunately no police showed up

I love that - it killed the moment. Hard to fall in love with an alarm screeching.

Oh yes. I even had the police come!! it was very embarassing
Of course, what is worse is that I set the alarm off in my own home and my husband gave the wrong panic code so the police came there too. That was truly embarassing!

Yes. I always advise Buyers in advance, that if an Alarm goes off, they need to drive away immediately. Because that is what I do... I drive away. I call the Listing Agent/Listing Office... but I am not going to wait around to be questioned by Police.

Yes, when I entered my sis-in-laws house. The phone rang so I answered it and explained the circumstances to the security company. They came to check us out. We were not arrested.

Good morning Debbie,
I had a listing way back in 2010 and yes the alarm went off. Not fun at all, the sellers forgot to turn off. I sold the home, good thing:)

Since homes are broken into about every 10 minutes on average in the U.S. I would attempt to turn the event into a positive. Almost every home I show has an alarm unfortunately there's only a minimum of those which are actually used. Yes. I have entered properties without prior knowledge of an alarmed and armed system in place.

I always had the seller disarm the alarm until the home had as accepted offer....

Sure did and talked to everyone at the alarm company and finally police

Once showed a home in the middle of nowhere. Alarm went off and listing agent was no help. Customer standing outside when the police car rolled by and did not stop! House no longer a consideration!

One day I was showing a listing. No alarm instructions were given and we went right in and were looking around. There were several doors to an outside porch and when we opened one of them, from the inside, the loudest alarm I ever heard went off and it wouldn't stop blaring. Geez. I called the listing agent who knew nothing about the alarm. We found out later it was a childproof alarm that the sellers forgot about (the house was vacant). Oh my, that was noisy. That was one child that never escaped.

You bet, then you have to wait for the cops & hand over your business card. Usually a fine for the seller for the alert.

I did just Friday night. Went back for a second showing and it was on and did go off. It was suppose to be off.

After a closing, I was meeting some vendors at my clients' purchase and as I open the door -- the alarm goes off. Police showed up as I am calling the number of the "security company" sign. The previous owner had failed to pay them.

Yes and the police showed up also.
It was just an over sight of the selller
