Definitive guidelines were obviously in need; things were getting silly.  I don't believe we need to be all real estate, all the time but the content was getting out of hand.

I appreciate Bob Stewart's nudge in the direction of Real Estate related fun rather than too much of the same things I find on general social networking sites. Remember the posts in Q&A with worst listing photos (dirty laundry carpeting the bedroom, etc)? We have plenty to share for RE comedy!

Yes, and overall I think it's a positive change.  There have been a lot of off topic q's and clutter here and I agree that it devalues the site/this section.

I just think it would have been better to provide the guidelines first, before deleting posts and enraging a few (who then in turn over reacted).  Yes, some people need filters.

I think the big brouhaha would have been avoided then.

I agree with Bob that silly Q&As make the section of AR seem frivilous. I don't necessarily think frivilous is a bad thing, but I'm ok deferring to him on that one.

I'm not, however, comfortable that decisions were made to remove posts without some kind of "warning" or reminder of the rules, if there had been rules regarding that kind of post prior to this week. I'm not a rainmaker out of the generosity of anyone's heart - I paid my dues and put in the time to earn it. And now I feel a little skitish  - I don't want to get deleted for saying the wrong thing. I also hate the middle school drama that accompanied this event, as well as others previously. Professionals behaving like tweens is very unattractive.

At the end of the day, the benefit I get from AR - the knowledge, the networking, and the SEO - far outweigh any discomfort I feel so I don't feel the need to make this my swan song.

I have just read Bob Stewart's Blog, and do agree that personal attacks are rude and disrespectful.  They are not the same as diagreeing with someone.  I know we all should 'think before we speak', though sometimes we do not, and then there are others who are in the extreme, and 'have no filter'.  For me personally, the Q & A is quicker to respond to then Blogs in general, because it is shorter.  Most Q & A's are interesting and informative, and if some are just quirky I don't reply Fred Griffin.  

I did, and the first thing I noticed when I checked in today was a serious question about steel roofs!  Go figure?

Yes he did and time for me to get back to serious blogging.

To be honest, when I read his comment I thought it was very outrageous and so I chose not to even respond because I didn't even know what to say
