I don't think so Brian... if this is part of your blog and your persona, you keep on truckin' , as they say. I think Bob was really talking more about the Q&A section, not what you choose to write about on your own blog.

On your blog, post whatever you want as long as it doesn't violate the community guidelines.

In the Q&A section, we ask that questions are relevant in some way to real estate, business or ActiveRain.

Well, the longest question I've ever seen! I have never seen daily pic by Trish but there used to be a group that used to do that including Roy Kelley.

Bob has never like jokes, silly stuff being posted on the site. He is the gatekeeper & maintenace man so that the site doesn't start looking like Craigslist.  He has a tough job but he's the boss in the end.  Never seen him censor anything that wasn't appropriate.

I do not think so Brian, If people read your blog that is a value to memebers,  Roy Kelley always had pictures of flowers and no one complain.

IMO, it has to be a mix of knowledge and entertainment.

When you turn on your tv do you do it for the commercial?  No you get those along the side while you are being entertained.

If our blogs were nothing but boring info then we would lose our readers, there does need to be a bit of entertainment mixed in with the other stuff.

I would Ask Bob Stewart before deleting them, chances are he will think they are of value.

I think they bring a lot of people to your blog who would not be there otherwise, and they highlight much of the beauty of your part of the country.

Brian England - you got the 'nod' from Bob - as long as you stick to guidelines.

I agree with Nina Hollander - keep blogging - it tells us who you are - and I loved the buzzard photo- not that I think you are a buzzard! 

I think Bob specifically said that a member could put whatever they wanted in their blogs but that he wanted the Q&A section to be more professional. I, for one, would hate to see Trish's photos go away!!

That's your decision, Brian --- I enjoy your "Daily Photos from Trish" -- I try(not always successfully) to "mix it up" a bit with my regular market reports and throw in some other types of posts.   

As long as you follow the guidelines, you are free to blog about whatever you like --- go for it!

No. I do like Bob Stewart's emphasis on keeping our Q&A different from Facebook and purely social sites. We can still be personal or humorous while relating it to real estate. 

I have to agree with the responses that say you should post what you want. I agree our blog is a great way for the consumer to get to know us and how we do business. 

I agree with you, people who may hire us to help them with possible the most expensive transaction of their life should know what kind of person we are!

I enjoy the photos you post and you enjoy posting them. Don't feel like that you cannot continue.

Brian, I feel our personalities do show in our blog posts.  Bob said we can write what we want in a post ... just keep the Q&A real ... estate ... related.

Brian- It is my understanding that Bob Stewart meant the Q&A section.  As for your posts, which I like, they are yours to do as you please as long as they are within the AR guidelines.  So keep those photos from Trish Van Housen  coming!

Brian, first , I am a fan of Trish's pictures.  She is a great photographer and looking at her work brings me joy.  And someone did send me a whine note.  Like maybe you should invite Trish to post them on her own blog or put both of your names on it - if anyone did have an issue, it wouldn't be with the photos (look at the gorgeous blooms Roy Kelley brings us daily) but with who is taking them. Frankly, I don't care!   And I really agree with Nina Hollander that they are part of your personna on your blog, and they helped me to remember you as a special blogger.  

Brian, I may not be able to see every post of Trish's photos but what I have seen, I hope you continue. It is your post, consumer actually like to see that human touch in our posts. Glad to see Bob has no issues with it.

A blog is a small piece of you Brian and "Daily Photo from Trish" part of that. In fact, the superb photography is what continues to draw me to the whole. 

No.  I think Bob's post made it very clear that we can have at it in the Blog Post section - the focus of the cleanup is strictly on the Q&A section.

If those are on her own blog, they won't go away. Bob is simply trying to clean up the Q&A, which is *not* the place for daily photos. 

Let's see. Will your question or Trish's photo's go first?

Perhaps we need 'Members Only' section under Q&A for those who just want to do whatever we want to do w/o violating laws or ethics.  Q&A is quicker than writing a post.

You make an excellent point Brian England - I as a newbie realtor and a newbie part of the AR Family, do not have years of experience with either.  I enjoy getting to know personalities and people, and learn from everyone, and not just about real estate.  If there is something posted that someone doesn't care for, they don't need to read and/or respond, but we all know that!  If we eliminate the 'Just for Fun' category, I would not leave AR, though do not always have something to Post in the Q & A that is real estate related.  As a realtor I'm an Assistant on a Husband/Wife Team, and Roger with more experience (in both CA and AZ), does the majority of the paperwork and phone work.  He does not care to be part of AR due to the time factor and that is fine with me, because I do care and fit in the time!  So I cannot always have a knowledgeable answer based on personal experience.  Even though I'm reading and learning, if I don't have anything pertinent to add I don't participate.  Many do the 'Just for Fun', and many do other categories as well.  I see nothing wrong in having a mix, though if this is to be just a real estate site, I would comply, and that would be my choice.  That being said, I would feel that I'm not 'seeing' the many sides of a person, and agree that being strictly business-oriented is nice, though it's not for every personality, and could be hard to connect to, if we all sounded the same.  The personal connection is where . . .
