What you did, and maybe an innocently posed question: "What if they go up, not down?" The voice on the other end is reporting live from "Someday Isle".

Once Z is brought into the conversation, I know this caller has at least one bad habit. Do I try to convince them to use my site for the real-time information and accurate values, or just give up? That depends on the tone of voice from the caller and subsequest statements

Why to hang up on a potential buyer who is ready to buy? Why not to educate him/her? 

Turn self-educated ( Z-educated?) buyer into a satisfied loyal client. 

First off I would tell the caller to look only at PROFESSIONAL Real Estate sites. 

This is why we need to stop supporting these lead gen sites.

I never argue with someone who knows more than I do 

I almost always ask if they are working with another agent and if not then I suggest a meeting so I can show them other properties that might interest them.

Waiting only creates competition !

That buyer sounds like trouble. I hate it when buyers tell me what property is worth. 

I'd have ended up most likely doing what you did after stating that homes are actually priced right (for the most part) and we are in a rapidly appreciating market.

I would thank them for their interest and tell them to call you anytime if they would like to look at homes to buy in your area.

I handle all inquiries the same regardless of comments like that. After some basic qualifying, I would have suggested meeting for a buyer's conference to discuss their needs/wants and explain why there is so much information on sites like that.

Then I probably would have show comps and the property.

I would ask why so many homes are selling above Zillow's estimates.
