I don't... often it's too loud and distracting. And then there's the issue of taste in music and how does one guess what a prospective buyer likes?

No, I often find it annoying.  You never know what the musical preference of the prospect is.  Why take a chance?

I say let the music play!  Anything to get buyers to remember your property. 

If you know the age range of the potiential buyers coming to view property, adjust the volume and station.

EXAMPLE:  

Beach Front or Condo-  (40 to 70) station to cover all is 70s music.  (Over 70 ) Classical or 50s music  

Mountain Home -  download some John Dever  or counrty music

Etc.

I recently showed a home, music and candles were on. It is not the "IN" now, but it was nice:)

If they ride with me there will be music playing in my car but not so loud to disturb the conversation but loud enough to follow along in your head. It can actually help them relax.

It can be nice and create a good vibe if done right.  Has to be music that is fitting with the feel of the house, not too loud and something people won't be turned off by.  Classical, easy listening, jazz, Sinatra, Billy Joel, Ottis Redding, Beach Boys... those types seem good.

No - I find it distracting. 

I think music playing in a home is a distraction....  I do, however, like music playing while I'm online marketing!!!!

I prefer no music.  If it is playing it needs to be ever so softly playing and not interfering. Side note:  I've been in restaurants where the music was so loud I could not stay and eat there. I can see that at a sports bar or a bar ... but not a restaurant.  

I love music, so yes, I enjoy it.  However, it can be distracting to the buyers.

I would find it to be very distracting.

It is interfering as most buyers want to hear just how quiet the home is. Road traffic, barking dogs, etc.

I've never heard music during a model home showing.  It would be distracting though.

Have not experienced it in resales. Very common in new construction! Not a big fan of music even in new construction!

I like classical, preferably piano music, flowing softly through the whole house sound system. Most agent do also, since I observe sound tracts accompany all those slide shows the provide for their online tours.

Better still, connect your MP3 to the sound system and play the house tour sound track that actually reveals the features, benefits and privilege of living there. Don't leave out those who are hosting with you.

Obviously, this applies to open houses.

For the typical showing, 80% of the time the listing agent is MIA. For the few who do what they were hired to do, 10% will defer showing responsibility to the buyer agent who knows NOTHING about the house. So for the 10% who this pertains to,  only one voice should be heard.

I think music at the right volume and the right choice of music enhances the tour of the home.  A good smelling home and lots of light helps too.  By all means "toilet seats down"

Yes, I am totally fine with it, as long as it does not dominate a conversation, and possibly older folks might not even hear it, as it's background music.  I  like it for atmosphere Jeff Dowler CRS.  Any preferences for 'style' would be my own.  For Open Houses we always have our own music, and it's Easy Listening. 

I think it can be distracting although I like music. I think most people want silence. They may think smells or music are taking their mind off the decision at hand.

Jeff you and I could rock out to 60's and early 70's tunes and reminisce.
