Market share is often acquired by recruiting top agents to join the firm.  This is the best way to acquire market share in a particular market place.  They often make a tempting offer, which an agent has a hard time refusing!    It is not necessarily the number of offices, but the pool of stars in the office which become talent magnets.   A

The one I belong to - Keller Williams - we now have more agents (productive and most of the top 20 ) than the other firms!

In the Chicago North Shore it is Coldwell Banker.

KW has the most agents by almost double so they have the biggest share.

Long and foster because they have an office on every street corner 

Probably Keller-Williams, they are by far the most agressive recruiting company out there regardless of the number of transactions they may bring.

Corcoran sealed more deals than any other brokerage in Manhattan! There is a larger firm with more agents (Douglass Elliman) but corcoran has more listings per agent and more transactions. Corcoran closed $6.3 billion in sales over last year. $7000 million more than nearest competitor.

No one firm has any noticable dominance over any other.  There is enough variety out here now that the big guys don't hold the lion's share.  Compass and some out of area small offices are starting to even get traction.

RE/MAX Executive Real Estate has the lion's share of the Franklin MA market.....the reason is Barbara Todaro, Tammy Todaro, Eric Buliung and Lorraine Kuney pound the pavement everyday.....

Howard Hanna has dominated Erie market for last eight years; reason-- focus on customer service including the HH agents

Always an interesting question and an answer that can vary by who is asking and how that number is determined.   

My company at John R. Wood Properties, which has been in business here since 1958. Agents stay with them for years and are the best trained and more professional in the business.

I would say the big franchises have the market share in most markets with some large independents controlling certain niches!

RE/MAX. A record of success.

Here Long & Foster has the market share, sort of.  They have a huge number of offices and agents.  But they also have the lowest per capita production for each agent.  They also have a huge turnover rate and largest number of agents who leave the business with no sales.  They do have some terrific agents  - it's sort of a numbers game. 

Our Century 21 Bradley is the #1 selling Century 21 in the country and is the #1 selling office in Northeast Indiana.  I'd love to take some credit, but HA!  WE all know better.  We have a great company here for sure.  

An independent agency with many excellent agents and the wife of the most prolific builder in the area.

Houlihan Lawrence (local to the area).  They also have an even higher share of high end and luxury properties.

RM with half the agents of the other companies. Our MLS gives us the stats easily on who is doing what. 

It depends on which month. It may vary. Our office has large share.

Intero, Coldwell Banker professional agents. Warren Buffet has Intero and Hathaway

There are many firms that have market share in my trading area.  Different firms have different market shares in different parts of the trading area.

You have to read between the lines and know enough to look each day at what was sold and listed.
