I usually wait until after they have been through the house and we've had time to connect a bit. I use cards and offer to trade contact information with one of my very cool personal brochures. And by then, I've usually found some question they need answered and I need to call or email them.
It works pretty well most of the time.

I do not request people to sign in. If they want information from me then they provide their contact information. If not, have a nice day people.

I agree with Patricia Kennedy I offer additional information to them, but it requires an email, name, tele number. If interested, they comply. Why waste time with those who are not interested?

I ask - you can offer a raffle or something like that to get them to give you accurate information but I always try to earn their trust and offer value - then they are more likely to give accurate information

Ask them as they enter, when you greet them. If they ask why, advise them it is for Seller information as well as security. You can have a sign in sheet that asks them to check whether they would like to be contacted after the showing or prefer information not used. Whatever you like...stand by the sign in sheet and welcome them into home after signing in; if you want to guarantee results. A sign in sheet noting columns of whatever information you want will be easier for you.

Just tell them that you need to show the sellers how many people viewed their home, so they know whether to have another open house.

Offer to send them more info on this property or others that you have available, if you offer something worthwhile they will gladly give you their contact info.

I say "please let me show the sellers how many people were here". It works.

I either have a signin book or a tablet and I meet them at the front door and say "The seller requests you sign in." Most people will do that. Only had one balk at it. When I used a similar approach with a gift card raffle drawing, about half the people signed in.

If the house is owner/tenant occupied, everyone shall sign in. If it is vacant, it is optional, I will just ask what their names and how they found my open house.

Chris Mamone - by insisting that 'The sellers have requested me to keep the log of all the guests at the open house'.
I have asked someone to leave the open house when they refused to sign. (Sounds rude - but good for safety - and you may not want to entertain such buyers anyways.)

We have a sign in sheet that asks for phone and email as well as a feedback sheet that asks buyers to rate the property from 1 to 10 on 4-5 criteria.
Buyers sometimes leave fake phone numbers/emails. Their loss.

I offer information, and get their contact information when they say they'd like to have it.

You will get lots of John Smiths, email address is JohnSmith@Aol.com. The phone number is Domino's.
Better to connect with people one on one; tell those who you click with that you'd like to stay in touch and provide them with more information.

I ask for feedback to share with the owner. Most are more than willing to do that. I use Open House Pro.
3,386,508
I ask in a no pressure way to please sign in so the owner knows who has been through the home. Also, please provide your agent's name or email for follow up if you have one. That way, they don't necessarily think I'm there ot pounce all over them.
2,296,888
We do open house on demand videos delivered to wherever the buyer is on the planet.. no matter what weather or time of day, season. They work and nothing to sign in for, just help yourself, fully loaded to dine on. They will find you if they like what you are matchmaking...

If you are sitting where they enter, you have the control. Sign and enter. Another approach? Write down the info for them while making small talk

Sandy and Norm Padula have it summed up well. Concentrate on those with an interest!
5,585,039
we ask them to sign in....if they don't, that's ok....when we communicate with them while they're walking through, we usually mellow them out!!!
5,317,667
I have a registration sheet for them to sign in as entering the home. There is a place for them to say how they found my open house and what site if it was from the Internet. If they ask why I tell them it's for the seller and security. I have a spot on the registration sheet for either phone number or email address. I've trained them if they want to view the house..they need to sign in. It works.

I typically don't and only want to work with people who want to work with me.
If a conversation starts and a connection develops, I find most of those people offer their contact information. I have met prospective buyers and sellers who have become clients at my open house events.

I agree with Patricia Kennedy - I get to know them while they take the tour and they get to know me better, before I ask them to exchange contact information and offer to send them more information.

I don't worry too much about them signing in. if they like the house and are serious about buying, they'll let me know one way or another. When i have a sign in book with a note that says " please sign in". If they don't want me contacting them, then just sign name without any contact info.

Chris,
Sometimes they do and sometimes they do not. We were not concerned about that. A

WELL, i have never done this, but i am shy :). tell the previewer you like to save paper and dont like printing brochures and will be happy to email one to them right away (like now) so they can have one in their pc or on phone

I just say it is a request from the seller that everyone sign in before touring the property.
