The pet does it for me...I once made for the front door and the fiercest, meanest, hates humans, barking, deep throaty growling dog confronted me. The owner appeared and laughed and said: Oh he scares everyone but it is all talk. It was true. This dog could have gotten into movies with that acting talent. You thought your life was over! It was all show...

I've experienced all 3 but the one that frightens me the most is thinking a pet might escape! 

I worry more about pets slipping out of the home.

All are scary but not as scary as D - when I scream.

I'm with Susan Emo I've experienced all 3 but the escaping pet would alarm me the most.

If it is an occupied home the doorbell or knock before opening the lock box; that way hopefully someone has time to dress!

Alarm buzz is okay - pet trying to get you out is....most challenging for me.

Those Pit bulls on the inside of the door can cancel an appmt very quickly.

Being met by a strange pet, I wouldn't know if they will attack.  

Paul, these are sort of the top three worst sounds!  Fang snarling might be worse than a truant teenager.  Impending alarm screech is pretty bad, too. But yeah, snarling dog does it for me.  Out the  door!  Fast!!

Have heard all 3, and including one rather gruff angry voice - what the H--- are you doing? - and a few large angry dogs, and no owner at home. Nope did not enter

I vote for the alarm with the pet coming at me second. None of these are desirable situations.

I have not yet (yet!) experienced any of the 3 mentioned above.  I would hope that the alarm code and the not-crated pet would be in the Agent Remarks paragraph, so the 'scream from an occupant' would make my heart race Paul S. Oh that would be bad with a teenager and bioyfriend there.

I would have to go with a scream from an occupant...so far, that's never happened to me but I always knock before entering and loudly call out "Hello, Realtor entering!" just in case!

Paul, laughing, as I have heard all of these too.   The scariest is a dog that you had no knowledge of, and trying to rip your arm off!  

Your story sounds funny, and hopefully the teen learned a lesson. LOL. 

All three of those things would get me. 

It just happened to me yesterday. The agent listed a wrong unit number and I  tried to get into the unit with my clients. I think, I said ''sorry'' just thousands times....:) Can you imagine someones in their home relaxing and here a realtor is breaking in?!

LOL!!!  The scream would indeed be funny.  Thomas has the best answer though by far.  Only thing is, I'd probably be returning fire.

The scream would be my worst one.

My thoughts are leaning toward the scream.  I have experienced all three as well. 

Good morning Paul. None of the options would be pleasant, but vicious dog could cause the worst damage or worse.

We encountered Option B - once!

For me it's the pet getting out... sellers get very unhappy if their pets run away.

It was during the Zombie days of real estate.

Open front door and you hear feet running and back door slam.
You don't know if they all left or if stragglers are lurking in the cave dark garage.

In one case I could smell someone in the garage but could not see them. It's a Zombie home, no utilities. I knew I needed to get out of there.
