I don't recommend copying from Word docs. Word also has its own coding in the formatting. If you want to copy and paste, use pages on a mac and google docs on a pc. That will help to avoid this issue in the first place.

I believe you have found the culprit - copy/paste doesn't always translate due to format exchanges. I don't know issues with specific platforms because I always write blogs in the AR engine

I wrote a post last week about this wonky formatting in Ask an Ambassador. One editor doesn't always translate and become readable by another. Clearing the text format using the TX button on the AR blog editor strips the formating and will let you reset it to look the way you intend.

Debbie Reynolds did an excellent blog post last week addressing this very issue and could be your solution. Personally, I put my postings in AR first, then copy elsewhere.

Yes, word is the worst to paste into HTML. You should stop using it because you're giving yourself a headache. Make it easier on yourself instead.

Yes. And it might also be the type of font you are using. If you want to cut and paste, I would do it in Notepad. But if you are typing it anyway, why not just type it directly into AR?

AR and Word are not compatible. Write in Google Docs, or write in ActiveRain, and you won't have this problem.

After you paste into AR, you can clear the other formatting as follows:
David Wiggs from AR support explained:
"Right beside the spell check button in editing, there is a button called "clear formatting". [It looks like Tx.]
If you highlight the text you want to normalize, then click that, you can reformat!
Hope that helps - David"

I suggest writing your posts in something like scribe fire. Microsoft is in their own little world when it comes to characters.

Good morning Jim. I cut and paste from a word document and have no difficulty.

Formatting has always been an issue Jim. I suggest you remove all formatting before bring the text into AR.

Yes Jim, the but and paste is the culprit...you can drag it over from word and won't have that problem.

Strip the code out of Microsoft Word before paste.
Or, after you paste it into the ActiveRain blog, click the HTML button, then remove all the excess and garbage.

Proably a font issue with word or some issue with the way word stores data.

You start with AR..... The editor here is goofy..... Not very versatile...

I have never had this particular workflow. Why not use a different editor and see what happens.

If I write in word, and I do a lot, I will copy it into notepad before I move over to AR. Notepad will strip the code. It's a few extra steps ... but for me it is worth the time. Otherwise you still need to fix the Greek.

Sometimes Word jumbles it up, but it will not translate to Greek unless you intentionally tell it to translate.

When you paste, try doing it by pressing the CTRL, ALT, V keys simultaneously. This will paste the text without formatting. Alternatively, you can select what you pasted and hit the clear formatting symbol in the blog commands. Last one on the bottom right.

Jim,
I have had that happen. It has happened when I have written it in Word, then pasted it on AR, when it did not appear on AR immediately, I did it again. It then for some reason changed it into HTML (Greek?). AR program gets fussy when you then make changes using AR either fonts or something esle. A

the size of the fonts vary when I do that.... I'm sure someone will have an answer for both of us!!!

Most likely, yes. Try changing the font...or else copy & paste the html.
