About a week ago when I went to Ralphs.  Still offered.  Trader Joe's does only paper.  They're trying to get uber stupid out here and ban all bags or charge you extra for them.  LA City already did that and people drive out of the city to shop now.

I always use my reusable bags. CA tries to get rid of plastic. No major stores are allowed to have them. In some cities you can not even buy water in plastic battles.

I haven't in a long while. But I use my own bags, and I'm a maniac in self-checkout.

We do not give out any freebie bags anymore. You bring your own bags as plastic is banned now. Paper they are 25 cents each.

We don't hear it hear.  If you want a bag you have to pay for it.  We bring our own bags.  Santa Barbara instituted that rule last May, and our little city of Carpinteria did it two years before.  So I don't hear either choice.  Have a great week.  A

Our local stores offer paper or plastic. I ask for the paper quite often as I reuse those bags.

 Publix used to say that.  Come to think of it, it has been a while.

Good morning Bob. Some of the smaller stores offer both in my local area, the majors do not.

It's been a long time.  Just about as long as I have not heard. "Do you want your bread in a seperate bag". Usually I get home and it's in with cans, jars and frozen items and no longer resembles a loaf of bread.

    Now they ask, "Is plastic okay?"   I want to answer, "No!  I want a cardboard box!"

I don't think any of our stores offer paper anymore, either. Although I did go into the local Subway. They have done away with the plastic bags and are serving up the sandwiches in paper bags. 

Been a while.  Usually have my own bags.

I think it has been about 10 years since I heard that. I only see plastic and of course the reusable bags and totes you can buy.

I haven't really paid attention as I usually shop at the specialty stores and not the large grocery chains.

None still that I know of and I miss it.  Those bags were great for so many things.

The supermarket I use offers paper or plastic but I have shopped there for so many years everyone knows me so they never ask. They know to put the wet things (milk, ice cream, meat, frozen, etc) in plastic and use paper for bagging dry goods and cans. With our high humidity here, I will be very unhappy if they ever ban plastic as the wet items soak through paper before you can get home and unload the car.

I don't think my part of the world has offered paper bags in at least 20 years.  If you want plastic you have to pay for them too.  I much preferred paper!

They are trying to go back to paper bags in Chicago, they are having a hard time of it.

I heard it this week.  Our local grocery chain, HEB, offers paper or plastic.  The paper bags are awesome with handles.  They can be reused many times.  Love it.

I don't hear it any more. They just give me plastic, or I bring my own.

We are not given that option anymore, quite a while.

Well things are changing but I heard it on Saturday. A number of communities here have banned, or are working on banning plastic bags. I have no issue with that at all!

Every time I go to a Sprouts grocery store.  One local municipality actually banned plastic last year --- but then retracted it just as quickly.

Last time I heard it was in California. I didn't hear it in TN and I don't hear it in Florida at the many Publix stores here.

There is an option here and they are now trying to make plastic illegal!

I bring my own canvas bags to the grocery store.   They sell paper bags for ten cents each.

They do here. I love paper as you can reuse the bags and they are bio degradable. I do have cloth bags as well and after watching the germs they can grown, wash them often. 

I almost always use my recyclable bags but even when I do not, I do not get asked the question.  The default is plastic.   A few years ago, when we still owned a beach house on the Outer Banks, the larger stores were required to go to paper.  So we had to go to smaller stores in order to get plastic bags, which can be reused in a number of ways.

Have not heard that question for a very long time now, Bob "RealMan" Timm!  If you do not have your 'shopping bags' with you (that usually advertise the store's name!), then you are 'plastic' - HA!

Both paper and plastic is still sold in many stores and online in my area.
