This is extremely disappointing.  It sounds as though someone in the government was put in charge of spending. 

Yep.  Been aware of this for a couple years now.  United way and the Humane Society are two others that do the same.  I use "GuideStar.org" to check out any charities I donate to specifically for this reason.

It's unfortunate that so many donations to worthwhile causes do not actually go to these causes. I prefer to donate to local organizations.

Our city councilman went on a pig out charging city several $100s for lunch daily and $12K on his trip to attend a gov't conference etc.... He weights 350# and is behind bars.... We know he ate that much just by looking at him.... 

I'm so glad people are becoming aware of this.  I was surprised to see Bruce Willis doing one of their commercials the other day.  People need to double check everyone and everything.

We do check Charity Navigator.  So much money that many are very tempted, and the meeting biz and conference stuff is a great way to siphon funds that are supposed to go to charity.  We have been aware of this a long time.  A

Yes, but most charities are businesses these days. I regularly donate, though.

Yes, there has been numerous exposes on TV and any fraud is bad but this is one of those that makes you really angry.

No. This is one reason why I am reluctant to just give/donate to all that ask. I choose my donations wisely.

Thanks for the warning Fred, I have given to them in the past.  It seems like all the national organizations are nothing but high paid people sucking up donations.

The WWP is one that I give to regularly due to a deceased friend's final request. To see this now after a couple of years of donating sickens me Fred.

I had heard of some issues, yes. 

We are exceptionally careful about the charities who are beneficiaries of  our funds...ouch !

If you take a close look at non-profits and charities, you will see they are not what they appear to be.......

I did hear about this...This is why I donate locally and usually diectly to the people in need...they get 100% that way

To take advantage of people under this guise is beneath even scum.  I hope the CEO who took spending to this level is forced to trade his suits for an orange jumpsuit.

I had heard about this and think it is shameful. I do not support them.

All i had to do was look at their commercials to see it was a fraud. I am glad the word is out.
