I don't believe they do anything different. Big name brands just need to charge more due to their national marketing costs and franchise fees.

Depends on the agent.  I have an agent friend who started the 1.5% commission trend out here.  He does full service and has a staff that assists.  In the hay-days of the market he had over 200 listings at any one time and over 50 going into escrow EACH WEEK!  He also served the entire Los Angeles County as well as Ventura County areas.

 

He still does a good business in this market.  He still provides full service marketing.  Not every agent will... at any commission rate.  It all depends on the agent.
