If a Washington, Ca, UT, NV area code I ignore.

Others I do call back.

Why? Those who are 'seeking' will actually leave a message. Those who are sending will not.

Most real estate agents engaged in the "dialing for dollars' plans are all senders.

Why do agents get upset when sales-folk call them yet they besiege homeowner without hesitation?

Always unless it's an 800 number. Area codes that are out of area are often people who have just relocated to my area and are in the process of preparing to buy.

If you don't pick up or call back right away, it just may be a solid prospect that will just call the next agent in whatever directory they're looking in and that's simply a lost opportunity that didn't have to be that way.

A call back takes 10 seconds of your time to find out why they called. The expected return on an investment like that is off the charts (for you financial geeks).

I call back everytime :-)

When a new person walks into an open house, and says hi and keeps moving along, do you try to reconnect with them in the house?  The phone is the open house and the new number is the person, so why let that potential lead go away?  It could even be a foreclosure company looking for an agent to list one of there properties from out of the area?  What have we become so scared of now days?  This isn’t the era of unsolicited calls, and for the simple reason why not….. its called technology and caller ID.  Do you think people are going to solicit as much as they used to when they know you have there number???   Don’t hide your head in the sand!  Get with the times.

What have we become so afraid of in todays society.  Of course I don't call back the 800 or 888 numbers, but everything else is a potential start to a new relationship!  Remember, soliciting calls are not as frequent anymore, due to caller ID on your phone, so get into the new age and out of the 90's and call them back!  Not everyone likes to leave a message, so don't try to analyze or pre think the situation.  It only takes 20 seconds out of your so important facebook time, to find out what was behind that new number or new lead!

Increase your everything by calling back.  &

Stop listening to your tv and all the brain washing they do on NBC, MSNBC, CBS, FOX, etc…  Use your brain, and start listening online to places that are less likely to make you drink the cool aid!  We are being dumbed down America, lets get back to our roots and start to be pro active and quit being afraid of a friggin phone call !!!

I always return every call. If it is a telemarketer, I log it into my phone as "SPAM" never to answer that number again. It takes less time to return the call than listening to a message or googling the number.

Sometimes if I just missed the call and I'm not busy I'll call right back, but that's rarely the case.

What really gets me is when someone calls a bunch of times and hangs up and then I answer one of their calls later in the day and they're annoyed..."I called you like 5 times, why don't you return my call!"  ---it's usually crazy agent, who wants to know if that listing is still available...the one in the mls in pending status.  --you know that agent, I'm sure there's one or two in every market!  Leave a message and I'll call you back!

I send the calls to my team members to call back. Every so often, one of them will be a seller who wants to list, and then the team redirects the caller back to me. It's silly not to call them back because yes, they could be a telemarketer, but they could also be that poor soul who is calling a bunch of agents who never answer phones, looking for the one who does. If you want to know if the caller is spam, use the Truecaller app.

Typically not.   I assume if there is no message left, it's a sales call or a mis-dial.

No, most times they are just spam calls.  If the phone rings it is because they want to talk to me, not that I want to talk to them.  If it is a client they will leave a message.

I do for the most part. There was one time when it was an agent sending out a referral and he was just about to call another agent.

Yep! Unless it is an 800 or 888. It is quicker to call back than look up the #. More than 3/4 of my business is out of towners, actually out of state.

Local or Global-Allow me to open doors for you.

I never used to, but more and more I am finding that it is a potential customer from the younger than me generation.  The issue with not leaving me a message is, if my phone is on airplane modeI will never see that call. I am surprised when someone says "I called you and you didn't return the call."

Yes if it is in my area code, and no if it is a 800 or out of state number,
