Almost none !!! I don't view AR as a website !!! Instead it is a game changing Community of enlightened people and game changing marketing tools , that create a clear differentiation vs. your competition !

I don't think it matters if the public knows the name ActiveRain as much as I know that AR brings prospective clients to me.

I agree that very few, if any consumers, know about ActiveRain and I was surprised how very few real estate agents also.

John Novak I believe, many real estate agents are also not aware of ActiveRain! It's their loss!
Should general public know? Not necessarily. It's our posts in 'Rain which gets Google juice and they connect with us through our CTA!

I would guess around 1-2%. Most of those that know it are realtors, but many of them don't know it. And, that's fine. I don't need them to know it. I just need them to find me.

My Sister would know! Generally speaking not a lot of the general public would mention AR off the bat... but they would have a hard time naming a lot of the sites other than zillow, trulia and Realtor.com

You could ask 1000 general realtors the same question and would probably get the same answers as you would from the general public.
ActiveRain was never designed to be a public site. What does it offer the consumer? Here's an excerpt from the original site owner...
The "ActiveRain Real Estate Network" is a free online community for real estate professionals run on behalf of its members. We are building this community in order to help members promote and grow their real estate business on the Internet.

Realtor.com, Zillow, and Trulia are sites with a different purpose. AR seems to be doing very in its own niche by ranking our well written blogs on Google for home buyers and sellers to read. That is enough for me. You do think out of the box. Your ideas are great for thought.

I have never run into a consumer familiar with AR. I think it is a business platform and not really geared to consumers as much. I am happy with the visibility we get via google, etc.

Well I wouldn't be here if it was a listings portal. T tried to be both & that didn't work out did it?
The public doesn't know it but you are missing the point. You get your listing post found because of AR on Google. Then hopefully you are smart enough to send that inquiry to your own website to search directly not on TZH.

NONE!
AR is not a public focused website.
AR is a website that is agent focused that enables real estate professionals to interact.
And, there is no property search feature like the sites you mention.
AR should make no effort to attract consumer traffic. Evidence of such action will be shortly followed by revenue augmentation initiatives.
However, AR could create resources that excite participating agents to be more aggressive in creating value through AR.

I would think very few would name ActiveRain.
Yes, I think they should make more of an effort.

John - Actually that was one of the things I mentioned to Bob Stewart when Active Rain was looking for advice from us. I always felt that this could be an amazing platform for consumers, and potential future clients.
2,704,257
What a great idea that ActiveRain should push itself to become as "well known" as Z, T, and R!
786,974
I like that Activerain allows my blog posts to be my blog posts and doesn't try to promote themselves through these posts. They will need to monotize the site for survival but they are incredible.
5,984,052
I would venture to say very few if any. Posts come up in searches, but not sure they go to AR for listings. The others are where they search for homes.
617,985
John,
I have never found a member of the general public who has heard of AR. Rarely agents who aren’t on it.
1,535,124
None. I don't see it as a public facing site. You almost never see the public commenting. It is a content distribution platform and a realtor and affiliate networking platform, in my view/experience since mid last year.
8,123,156
ActiveRain is unknown.
In fact, if you asked 1,000 agents, most would not be familiar with ActiveRain.
3,416,372
I would say very few becuase that is not what AR is about. Complete a search for say a condo community in my city, my AR blog will be right there on top. They give our blogs that push to get found when consumers are searching.
