Vacations? What is that?

I've found that to be true and have often said maybe I should just let people know I'm going on vacation, even if I'm not.... the phone will start ringing!

What's a vacation?

I am very spur of the moment in that department. If a add pops up that interests me I will investigate on the spot and then go for it in like 30 days out.

And couple of long vacations are, too - with little buffer of about a week here and there. Usually, everything gets done at the beginning of the year most of the time.

Usually at least several months ahead.

About six months because airfare is involved and it tends to get more expensive the later you book.

We just do it - impromptu. Unless we are going out of the country.

 I agree with you about planning vacation and getting busy.  Every time I plan to be out of town for a couple of days I get new offers, new listings and request for showings.  So I have stopped planning vacations, because  I need a break! 

Paul - Sometimes we plan way in advance and other times we will just decide to up and go. Like you said, it never fails that business will pick up if you decide you want to take a vacation.

Sometimes a few weeks out, sometimes 24 hours.   I usually see an opening, and start planning. 

About 3 days to a week, never know when I may really have a bit of time off between projects.

Plus priceline gives great deals on tickets and hotels when you buy them the night before.

That is so true. It happens to me all the time. 

I just sent in my seat request for an event in September.  So right now, I'd say 9 months.  Technically though, I planned on going again after last year's event, so one year in advance for me!

We dont take vacations, but may take off for an emergency when needed.

We plan our time off a few weeks out, but as far as the "vacation" we're pretty spontaneous.  In our 16 day vacation we had 3 days preplanned for where we would be and what we would be doing.  The rest was joyous adventure of what ever felt right at the moment all the way to the west coast and back. 

24-48 hours.   I'll never forget I woke up on a Saturday morning at 9am, client inquired online regarding a property.  We emailed back and forth, and agreed to see one condo.  They liked it and that evening we had a sunset wine showing.  Contract written the very next morning for $2.875M would not have happened if I'd been out of town.  Very likely they would have been snagged by someone else if I hadn't responded.

Anytime is a good time for us.  Our business runs around our shedule and it will be just as hard to leave with a long period of time to prepare as it is with a weeks notice.  The beauty of real estate.

isn't that the truth..... I keep telling Lorraine to go on vacation....she's in Mexico now and we've put many deals together....

The last vacation I took was 2 months before 9-11.

I do take a day here and there ... and if I need to manage/monitor work I do. 

we have 3 out of 4 weeks planned for the year already.

My dad plans most of our vacations, but if I plan them they are usually on a whim;)

Paul, no kidding!  People just know when you start to pack your bags!

We like to make early reservations to get the best motel rates.

Yes, we are going back to Italy in September with a side trip to Croatia. We are also working on our July 4th trip. REALTORS® who do not take vacations should take a serious look at their business model. If I can't take vacations I am doing it wrong and I should look to another career path.

I leave the vacation planning up to my bride.  One less thing I have to deal with.

You are so right that as soon as you try to get out of town here comes some business. I try to plan 3 - 4 months in advance but I’m flexible.

It has to be months in advance for me even to take an out of town class. And you're so right - it's the 'wash your car and it rains' phenom.
So I try to take mini-vacations so I can drum up urgent must-do-now business. Works every time!

My yeraly vacation i plan a year ahead althouhg i book it 6 months or so ahead. YES plan some time off and watch how busy you get, works every time

The long vacation's are generally six plus months away.

A spur of the moment could happen a within a week.

Must say that I am not a great planner of vacations. My guess would be no longer than 3 months!
