I remember each Christmas morning waking my parents and them having the 7 kids sit on the steps of the stairs in order of age; me, the youngest on the bottom step.  We were like young race horses, just quivering in anticipation and excitement!

Then they'd count 1,2, 3 Go and we'd make a mad dash to the living room where they would have placed our gifts in piles on the chairs and sofas.  I now know they squirreled away our gifts all year long, where I've never figured out. It never occurred to me to look because obviously, they were with Santa at the North Pole !!

Parties.....My parents used to have large parties. People were dancing, singing, consumed a lot of champagne and delicious homemade food:) 

I admit Roger is was getting toys I wanted like GI Joe, Legos, and the Erector set. I also admit that I played with my sister with her Easy Bake Oven, it used a light bulb to cook.

My sister and I shared a bedroom. We knew that Santa wasn't real but wanted to catch Mom and Dad putting the presents out. We took shifts trying to stay awake and both of us always fell asleep and missed it. When we woke up in the early morning Santa had come and we had to wait until the next year to try again.

It would have been in my early years at home.  I must have been about 6 to 8 then.

The year I received a medicine cabinet (toy) with all the stuff inside. Lots of pieces and parts.

You are right! Pas family times will always live in our minds fondly.

Getting up early to check the presents. In those days, the Sears catalog was the place to look for requests to Santa.

Hoping there would be mashed potatoes and gravy as it went from my parents to the youngest on up.

Going to the 7pm candlelight Christmas carol service with my mother and brother and walking home from church. Coming home to a lovely meal and then opening gifts which had miraculously appeared under our tree while we were at church. (Lovely not to have to wait till Christmas morning.)

One of my favorite memories was putting milk and cookies out for Santa:)

The Christmas vacation for 10 days.

 I have a lot of childhood memories. Most of it was family get-togethers in South Carolina

Playing with the elves my mother used as decorations on the mantle, making them do all sorts of magical things around the house. that and the year my parents surprised my with a beautiful Schwinn bicycle that I rode for years!

I was 6 and we got Monopoly.  That was the best winter ever.  It was amazing that my parents let the entire neighborhood of kids in to play board games. I got a bike that year too, but the weather wasnt nice around Christmas so it was Monopoly until spring.

My favorite memory is just like yours. We had a lot of holidays when most of the family would get together. That was a big deal, too, because we all live so far apart. 

I was in 5th grade. One of my favorite memories would be the year  my dad showed up with a shelving unit made by my grand paw with a black and white tv on there for me.  I was so excited! 

It was the year I got my "English" bike.  I didn't sleep all night.  We had a cuckoo clock that chimed every hour.  And the rule was we couldn't get up before 6:00 am.  I rode that bicycle for many, many years.

Going out with my Dad in his car looking for Santa. Dad was a great salesman and I was convinced that Santa switched to a '53 tan Chevy. By the time we got home Mom would greet me and say I just missed him.

Walking in the snow in Radnor PA and surely seeing the reindeer hoofprints with my sister Nori. Even my older sister returned to being a believer that year

MIne is similar, all my aunts, uncles and cousins along with my grandparents came to our house on Christmas Eve and we had dinner and exchanged gifts.

That is a hard question because there are so many!  One is the day of Christmas cookie making, filling tins with cookies which would go to neighbors and friends.  Another is of the open houses the neighbors had every year, where everyone gathered for good food, fun and fellowship.

we had a similar Christmas Eve, BARFF.  And on Christmas morning, I would be the first to wake up and go check on my brother's stocking.  I'd see what he got, then put it all back. 

Roger - Same here, just spending time with my family, including my grandparents, on Christmas day, and everyone opening their presents.

Roger D. Mucci I was in India - and the festival we celebrated was Diwali - festival of lights.

We'll get up early and 'blast' fireworks, go to temple and meet neighbors, friends, relatives - that would last almost for 5-7 days!

Growing up in Russia and Poland, somehow I never had my own tree. Remember going to a big party for kids organized by my dad's company. Presents weren't a big thing; I was thrilled to get a bag of oranges.

The same as it is today --- new underwear and socks.  Basics rule!

Having the entire extended family together at the family home in London.  Two Great Aunts, Four Grandparents, Two Aunts, Two Uncles, Eight Cousins, Mother, Father and Sister.  

Getting my own TV.

We actually had some christmas stockings and it was fun opening some presents then.  We also had Hanukah presents (we prob did not get 8 though).
