The people I hire do really understand it; I'm not paid to be distracted by "really" understanding SEO. I get the principles behind it. I don't "really" understand how a watch works, but I can tell you what time it is. I "really" understand Real Estate and people; that's how I get paid, that's what I focus on. The shiny new object syndrome is a big time bandit in our real estate industry.

I know as much about SEO as I do brain surgery.

No - that is why I am on AR - to learn - but I wish someone would do a step by step series of blogs- one helpful hint a day to master on our way to SEO mastery

I am not convinced the experts have consensus on understanding SEO.

Without fail?  Of course not. Sometimes I make no SEO effort at all.

Michael Thacker - Louisville Realtor - I don't believe that there is a direct link between blogging and understanding SEO. People create blogs for lots of reasons and SEO may just be one objective out of many, or not an objective at all. I've been blogging since 2007 but am still trying to understand the nuances of effective SEO.

No. I do not have a full understanding of SEO and have probably missed many opportunities.

I am not an expert in this but I get good results.

Blog is not enough to understand SEO. Blog content and its sharing management methods are good SEO understands.

Michael - Just because someone writes blog posts doesn't mean they really understand anything about SEO. I think I know a little about SEO, but it seems to be a moving target and something that is not easy to master. So many people have so many different opinions.

In fact, I have learned few things here - and follow some basic guidelines. It helps - does not assure Google Page#1 position and it happens once in a while.

I can't say I really understand the whole SEO stragedy.  I'm working on that! 

No it is definitely not my forte.

I think most people know about SEO, but don't know everything they could about it.

I don't really understand it.  But they folks who host my blog sites do.

I know how to write for good SEO results. To say I always do it would not be true.

I do understand SEO.  And of course I use it. If we want to rank and be found we stand a better chance of that if we optimize.  That said, some AR posts are not designed to be found in which case I do not bother with SEO.

I'm trying my best to take all this SEO information in and use it. Then things change.

I would not begin to say I really understand SEO, but we have an ace on our team.  He is one of the top people in the United States, and was the head of the Atlanta professional group, which is third largest after NY and SF.  He is an expert in real estate having developed 40 sites for a NYSE real estate publication company, having introduced Google to real estate.  He helps us with the architecture of the websites we develop for our clients.  We are also delighted that he is one of our great friends...He is truly an expert.  A

As my position is a Licensed Real Estate Saleperson and it changes like the wind NO!

There was a short video posted yesterdayby Matt Cutts from the Google Search Team.  It all comes down to writing useful content.  I think a lot of the myths and confusion has been fueled by the SEO companies trying to sell you their services.  

I think I understand some, I know I get quite a few hits on my web site, and watch the rankings.

Many people have blogs who have never heard of SEO.

I know enough to include key words and phrases that get my blog noticed. AR does a great job doing the rest to get my blogs high on searches if not on top and brings new clients weekly
