Having their license is one thing, but they need to keep their expertise and level of service at a high level, for their "main job", or they won't see any further business from me.

Debbie Reynolds As long as they don't provide a mortgage or an inspection to their real estate clients, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Fine - as long as they limit their discussions with the Buyer to the "hat" they are wearing for that transaction...

Debbie Reynolds I personally believe everyone has a right to 'earn' these licenses - as long as there are no ethics violations or 'crossing the line'.

If they use it for informational purposes I think it is fine.  If they switch careers I think it is fine.  If they are trying to do more than one of them I think it is a conflict of interest.

They should take a Real Estate course for knowledge, but I have mixed fealings about licenses.  It could end up a conflict of interest. Otherwise I don't have a real issue.

I don't see it affecting us one way or the other. Lenders often start out in real estate and find they like the mortgage side better. An inspector who holds their real estate license may understand better about the delivery of their findings to all parties and how it can affect a sale. Many times remembering to put findings in to perspective is crucial.

Why not?  There are a lot of licensees out there -- they can become a terrific source of referrals when/if things don't work out and their license remains active.

Years ago many agents were taking applications, and thought it was a conflict of interest, or a way to get into more trouble if the transaction went south.    I think if it was for access to MLS is good, if they are trying to be jack of all trades, maybe not.

I don't have an issue with it so long as they don't try to welch my clients and don't put themselves in a position of conflict of interest. At the end of the day we can't be "licensing police."

Hmm, maybe I should do lending and inspections on the side.

Only then can we truly appreciate the "OTHER" side.

I don't know any who are active RE agents but some who used to be or just did the class for education. I think the knowledge is helpful but as active agents there could be conflicts of interest.

A lender agent told me he does loans(refin) on same house several times. With home he can only sell/buy once.  He does a package deal.

My son tried his loan and deals are way better than bank retail. He gets wholesale rate. Fees paid by the broker.

Inspector ? Very few have realtor license in my area. Appraisers yes.

Here they would only be able to perform one or the other but not both with the same client.

If they were trying to do both it might also mean they were not proficient in one or the other.
