Photo #2 looks "better" than Photo #1 - that's as far as I can see!

I like the second picture more, the room looks cleaner and lighter. 

If I count every little thing then there are more than 30. I like the simplicity of the bottom photo.

I'm counting 21 items removed, not including the knick-knacks in the cabinet and on the mantle.  Also looks like a new cabinet, new plant, some changes to the window.... I'm guessing all in all somewhere in the 40-50 range for total changes, if not more.

I found nineteen and it is much briter and looks better with decluttering.
