I was summoned this year and I postponed it to start the week between Christmas and New Year's -- I hope this is a strategy that works in my favor.

The last time I was released but I have served on four or five different trials.

I find it interesting that I was never called when I worked on salary -- only after becoming a real estate agent.   

Had jury duty earlier this year when business was going crazy, and did not get selected, thankfully.

It was several years ago. I tried to get out of it as I had clients. It was a capital case that was estimated to last four weeks.  I did not get empaneled but I, along with a few others who were released,  received a  lecture about our civic responsibility to serve as a juror.   Good luck!

I was on duty 30 days this summer.  Bad timing in a hot real estate market.  Needless to say I was working at each break and lunch. 

I've never been invited but my Father, who passed away in 2001, gets called every year!

Have a learning experience with your jury duty. I have not been called in a long time. I am always excused because I went to law school and they would not want me on a jury.

I was called maybe about 15 months ago, but not called for service.

Thankfully it has been a while but it is a cicic duty and if called will show up.

Because of past jobs and they seem to ask the same questions I have never been selected.

I have never been called as I only need to refer any reviewing attorney to my Facebook page illustrating my conservative views.

I try to avoid it.

A judge can throw you in jail for thinking for yourself.

I.E. Looking up the word, Intrigue or ambivalent or lethargic to apply the proper meaning without asking the judge to provide it. In such an invironment I would certainly end up in jail.

2011 and I was picked.  I had no excuse to avoid; however I did not embrace.

Hi Lise, I've been called at least half a dozen times and sat twice. While I did not try to avoid it, I did wish that the courthouse had been closer to home!  

Lise Howe I got called and ended up being an alternate. Once they had the jury selection, they let all the alternates go. I was called again about three months later, but because I was called once within a six month period, I did not have to go.

Suzanne has been called several times over the years and has been seated twice (I think).

I've been called dozens of times in the past 20 years, but in my small town I am generally dismissed because I know someone, the attorney, the plaintiff, the defendant.  Once a judge actually asked me if I was related to everyone. I did serve on a case some 22 years or so ago.

I have been called several times in the past decade, a waste of time with each trial canceled at the last minute.

Every time I am called, I go...and I never get chosen. I've been told that (as a juror) I am a prosecutor's dream and a defendant's nightmare (LOL)

I served a 3-month term earlier this year on the grand jury. It was a total of 7 days and a wonderful experience.

I was called last year, but they did not pick me, so I wasted only one day sitting there and waiting their decision. 

I tried not to but got seated...then I was glad I did, because there were only 3 of us on the jury that had any common sense and we made a difference.

Now I have a daughter who is an attorney and due to that I get rejected.

I have NEVER been called for jury duty, been a registered voter since my 18th birthday (3+ decades ago!), no criminal record, lived in same place for 18 years, willing to perform what I see as my civic duty. Never been asked.

A few years ago my niece moved in with me temporarily, got her driver's license changed, registered to vote and in less than 30 days was called to be on a jury. Got selected and had to take two weeks off the first month of her new job. Go figure.

I only was called once, but it was the county next to the one I lived in, so I couldn't serve.

Lise - I haven't been contacted to serve on jury duty for quite some time. For a while, it seemed as though I was being contacted every year. Then I actually served on a case, and I don't think I have been contacted since.

I was only asked once. I did get out of it due to a scheduled vacation, but haven't been asked since. 

I was on a Grand Jury...a jury of the person's peers and they didn't follow the letter of the law or the instructions of the court.   Maddening

I was called a few years ago, but it was just before moving out of state so I did not attend.

It's been a couple of years since I was called.  I've never actually had to serve on a trial and I never try to avoid jury duty.

Avoided it at all costs - I can still remember the horrible lunch! Don't forget I'm in the 2nd largest county in the country.

I got called like 3 times in a row & sent a nasty note to the court that said, find someone else on your list. This isn't right.

The last time I served I was appointed to the Grand Jury which I believe was a 5 month term. I gladly served and feel it is our duty as Americans to perform various types of community service as needed. 

A few years ago. No I wasn't seated.

We are surprised that you were called.  Here in CA they don't like attorneys on the jury or even those related to attorneys.  We have been called and ignored each time.  A

I served a couple of years ago. The case lasted three days - a sex offender who chose to represent himself rather than use a public defender. Definitely an eye-opening and sobering experience.

I seem to get called every year.  Occasionally, I have to go in person and other times, I have to call in every day for a week to see if they need me.

I was an alternate on a jury where they were determining if an individual was capable of caring for himself or should remain under conservatorship. 

As I left the courtroom, I was embarrassed to realize I had my shirt on inside out.

Lise, I think that in DC the best way to avoid it is to embrace it!  I've been called a bunch of times but only served on two juries.

I was on call several months ago.  Never called in.  Yay!  I served on a municipal case many years ago.  It was an interesting experience, knowing your decision was going to affect a persons life.

Called, not picked and I recommend embracing it fully. There is life gold there

I get called every few years. The last time I didn’t get picked. I have previously served as the foreman on a capital murder trial.

I was called last week as an alternate and did not get called. We were all released around 12 noon.

I went a couple times but wasn't chosen. I think it was in 2013 and 2011 the last two times I was called. it's usually not as bad as many people make it sound.

i've gone three times and served on a jury once....it was fun...lasted three days....the other times it was settled and I spent all day waiting in a room with others....

Was through the 'selection' process for almost all day and at the end of the day, they already has selected them.

So far, never served.
