I don't lose control but I am very clear on how I will or will not be treated. I have no problem firing a client, an employee, a service provider . . .

The closest I came was one time I told a client in very client and blunt language that I refused to have any more to do with her and would not take any more of her phone calls. I had sold a condo for her and knew she was hateful of the entire real estate agency. I bailed her out of an impossible situation and talked her out of a lawsuit against a major company and agent who had sold her the condo. I believe her claim was ridiculous and would have been laughed out of court.
She then wanted me to find her another condo and was so demanding that I finally lost it and said "We are through - find another agent!!"

No, I haven't. I know how to control myself. But it doesn't mean I haven't had some very nasty thoughts, Debbie. And I have once or twice told a client their behavior towards me was unacceptable and that our relationship would be over if it didn't change.

Larry did have to set someone straight this year. Their verbal abuse, the yelling and the ugliness of this client was too much to take ~ They kept quiet after that, and we were able to collect our check at the end!

Debbie Reynolds I do have lot of control over me when I am in such situation. However, I have done that in past - lost control and did tell him what I thought of - about the situation.
It's never personal, it's always business.

I did it once when I dropped by a buyer's home to get a counter initialed. Turned out his wife was out of town, and I heard a cough and a giggle come from the bedroom of the apartment. I didn't say anything to his wife, but I had some choice words for him when he called about something the next day. My broker at the time, a rather elegant, patrician gentleman, was standing in the doorway of my office. When I looked up, he just said, "Wow! Sometimes you just have to say it!"
But I was very controlled during the whole conversation.

No I haven't done that, but I did almost lose control with a woman at the track this morning. She's not even a nice person. I held back because I thought I might run into her at a listing appointment or as a potential buyer someday. Although I probably wouldn't want to work with her.

Twice in over eight years I have fired my Client. One in a letter back to them and the other by not responding to them when they were ugly. When the Wife who was not involved or even home at the time asked why I told her. This is five years later and they are back in the market and will not deal with any other agent.

Never lost control, but have told a couple of unrealistic sellers something like this: "If we list at $325,000 (where the market is), you'll net about $220,000 after cost of sale and paying off your mortgage. At $375,000 (their price), you'll net zero, because the home simply won't sell. It's your choice."

Once it got close. I had a listing 45 minutes away and kept calling to see if we needed flyers, as they only had to walk to the end of their driveway. They would not call me back, and always had to drive out just to see. Eventually I did let the listing expire and said goodbye.

in real estate no, in other lines of work. yes. i always responded, i never started it. i used to feel weak for having done so. as i get older, i see it more as standing up for what is right. if you let people walk all over you you do no one any good. not yourself, not them, not the next person they will attack

A realtor who told me she was driving someone showing properties. The client slipped his tongue hinting he will buy only from the listing agent on homes he likes. She applied her car brakes on the freeway asking the client to get out of the car.
Once I figure out the motivation I will not wanting to have anything to do with the person. I am not your Supra doorperson. I will not leave you on the freeway but will not want to have anything to do with you.

No. I learned long ago in the corporate world to keep the emotion OUT of business. I have to admit that there have been times where I have been very direct with CEOs, but never in a "personal attack" approach. The "delivery" would obscure the "message".

Only once. I worked with woman who had put her son in a childrens home becasue of her issues and I worked with her for 4 months trying to sell her a house so that her son could come home. At one point her son was with us and almost on the verge of tears saying to nis mother are you ever going to buy a home. Later I took her aside and told her that I thought this was a terrible disservice to her son and I couldn't do this anymore. She walked away and I was just fine about it. Only time.

Yes, when I first started out in property management I used to take tenant phone calls. I once took a call from a snotty college kid who was yelling and cursing at me because the lease ended, he forgot to turn off his automatic payment which paid out his rent so we received rent. I tried to explain that we do not have the capability to withdraw money from tenants accounts. If we could do that no one would ever be late! He continued swearing at me so I told him to Call his daddy to turn off the auto pay on the account & hung up on him. Felt great at first but I didn't like losing control when I thought about it later. Since then we figured out how to turn off the auto pay feature in the software when the lease ends.

Only once Debbie Reynolds ...and it wasn't my client that I lost control with ...it was a church member that was there with us trying to tell him what to do and he was all over the place and way out of line ....I pulled my buyer aside and we talked ....everything ended up good in the end.
634,582
No. I have intentionally communicated problems I experience with them. And I have fired difficult clients.
403,357
I don't think I have, but Mr. Murty hears me vent an awful when situations arise.
There was a client who was completely out of line. My broker told me to ask the client what he wanted. I said I hoped he said he wanted someone to beat his f***ing a$$ because I was ready to do that.
