Maybe I'm out of the loop, but isn't the purpose of asking a question—to receive an answer? What is this "reward" you speak of? Is it a treat or something?

What I say is the points were so little it shouldn't make that much of a difference. And at the end of the day, it isn't and shouldn't be only about points.

The idea is that you should ask a question IF you have a question, not in order to get points.

W/ the points before, it was causing people ask all sorts of off the wall/non real/ non real estate related q's just to get points.

I disagree and hope the new system will not discourage participation.

Sometimes those q&a's have set off  light bulbs for me. 

Winston Heverly I think this will alleviate a lot of the frivolous questions.

Since I just naswered on of your questions I think asking questions is about hopefully getting the information that would help you.

If you are looking for an answer to a pertinent question why not get an answer form the experts.

I agree that little incentive exists to ask intelligent probing questions.

The trend is ask anything that burps into one's brain. No formulation required. 

Because there are usually three real questions each morning, it's somewhat worth wading through the nonsense.

I think you see questions now that agents truly want answers to ....I think the questions will slow down because of the new points change ....

I thought the same. How weird is that! They increase number of answer and reward for that but completely took away all from a person who posts a question. Huge mistake in my opinion, but what do I know?

If there's a good question that you don't know the answer to and you'd like to learn or hear others perspective then an educated and wise answered would be the incentive. 

yet you formulated that one?  I don't ask questions for points. I ask questions because I want industry peers to tell me what they think.

Winston - The incentive for me to ask a question is to find out the answer, and there are lots of experts here on AR that I can certainly learn from.

I think the whole purpose was to ask your peers about situations and real concerns not to think up a question that is not relative. BTW, the real life questions are the best.

You only receive 10 points for asking a question so you sure don't ask questions to increase your points total. The answers are now your rewards and that is fine with me.

I'd say that the value of having other professionals answer your questions outweighs the points you'd get from AR. I understand wanting to get points for putting in work (especially because I'm working on building mine up for a free account) but I think that having the support from awesome people is WAY better!! My incentive for asking questions is to see who is worth following here in the Rain and getting great advice on the things I want to know as a newbie.

The reward is the interaction and we do get points for asking questions and if another member likes our answers.

As others have said, since there is no points on getting answers, it seems the questions have gotten more real estate specific. For those that have a question they see the value in the answers not points.

I think it has cleaned up the Q&A section a lot.

I learn a lot from the Q&A answers.  Points are nice, but if that's the purpose of your questions... then what is the point in that?

if you don't have a question, then don't ask one....I have had one question submitted from the inception of this part of the platform...but I answer more than the 20 every day.... I guess I just like to give answers!!!!  must be the teacher in me.....
