I love a good fruitcake and the fact that yours are home made makes the difference. I remember the days when my grandmother placed a rum soaked cloth on top of her cake in the sealed container.

Lise, I'm a huge fan of good fruitcake! Oh, and bourbon balls. I can feel my waistline expanded as I read your question.

Fan here! Family tradition has always been to assemble them the day after Thanksgiving, then soak them in rum and put them in the attic (where it was cold) until closer to Christmas. Yours sound delish!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I like fruitcake. I stopped making them years ago when I realized I was in a small minority, and had to eat most of them myself.

Me! Me! I want one!
:) Since I'm fruitarian and a big fan of home made food and brandy, I will just dream about your fruit cake. Do post a picture when it is ready:)

Lise,
I am not a fan. When we first moved to the US, people brought fruitcakes for gifts that they had made for us. It was a wonderful gesture, and my parents and I did not care for it. I like fruit breads, like date nut bread, banana bread, etc.
I am still open, as I did not taste yours, for all I know it is outstanding!

I'm not a fruitcake fan. I never have been. Yours sounds wonderful and I would certainly give it a try. Maybe it would change my mind.

Lise,
There are a lot of other desserts I like better. Kudo’s for all your effort.

Lise Howe not a huge fan - though I like pineapple and strawberry cake - if it is homemade and my daughter is very good at it.

Make it a great week!

My extended family and friends beg me to keep sending them loaves of my Bourbon Pecan Cake each year. I'm not a regular fruitcake fan but this one wins praise from everyone. (I have to get it made by mid October to allow enough sitting time.)

The old fashioned family recipes are the best and I can enjoy a piece or two of them but not the whole cake. They are just too rich.
2,442,675
No, I am not a fan at all. I remember them from my Grandmother when I was a child.
There is a new version that takes a month to make, and it is awesome! I will have to find that recipe...

If you have ever tasted a questionable fruit cake, its a I'm done with this forever type experience. To win someone back takes effort like you are doing
