That is also a part of our Continuing Education. I think it needs to be part of it, as a reminder to Agents.
I update my policy and procedure manual annually and have all my agents read and sign. it includes a copy.
Bill, we had a Thursday morning ethics class at my brokerage every other week for the past year or so. We parsed the entire thing. It was an education. We also went over the stuff that seems to get a lot of agents in trouble, including the most interesting agreement between us and Sentrilock. I no longer ever show a place without following the instructions to the last detail.
And I'm realizing that having this code, as inspirational as it might be, really does little to protect the public.
I find the preamble inspirational and the COE is a dynamic document that has been updated over 100 years now. It is one of the assets we have as REALTORS® that differentiates us. For some it is aspiring to a higher standard but to us it is the standard.
Good Wednesday morning Bill. One of my things to do this years to become a licensed real estate agent. I will read it then.
I did just recently since i had to renew my license. Also last year, since it was a C.A.R. request.
Bill - I have read it a few times, referred to it with a few agents I have worked with, and have taken courses about the Code of Ethics. I feel it is very important to know and understand.
I think it's been two years since I've gone over it. Thanks for sharing your link. NAR offers a free ethics course that I thought was pretty good.
OK will read it...
Yes, we had a test on this, and we used it as a study guide for a class in our market center too.
Yes...Its a part of our continuing education. Even if it wasn't I would read it.
BILL CHERRY I think it is required for our license to be renewed every 4 years!
However, thanks for sharing the link - we need to read and appear for test before the end of 2016.
Oh yes, I have read it.
BILL CHERRY Yes, I have. I always made the yearly updated version part of my company's Policy and Procedures Manual.
I have in the past and that was enough!!!
I read it all the time. Also at the TAR web site there are hundreds of FAQ regarding the COE.
Yes, I have read it and it fails to offer much needed protection for consumers.
I have read it many times.
Yes I have read it in full a couple of times and then in parts many times especially during Professional Standards Annual Training.
