Basically the same but things are changing at the speed of light.

I have learned a tremendous amount that I didn't know. Frankly I had no idea what was involved to make a good living in real estate. It think the work is a lot harder than anyone realizes.

I was new to real estate but not to business and not to life. The business is different than what I expected and certainly not what was taught in the licensing course. I wished I had made the change earlier but still glad I entered the field.

Good Saturday morning Mark. If I had known then what I know now, I may have chosen a different career path. However, now that I'm 14 years into the industry, I plan on taking that knowledge and build a million-dollar company!

Hi Mark, basically it is the same as "perceived" BUT it has totally changed since I became licensed a quarter of a century ago. Some good-computer vs weekly mls book of listings. Bad-internet access to all listings by anybody. Before that a customer depended on us to find them a home. Now they want to do it their selves and only see your listings. If you have no listings you are out of business-at least that is how it is down here!

As a dinosaur, I began when agents in the same office did not necessarily share listings and saw the changes leading to the MLS. The only thing that has not changed is this is a relationship business!

Good morning Mark. I have seen both sides, being in it, building it to a 100 agent company and selling the company. It has definitely changed, but will always be a relationship business.
Make it a great weekend!

It was very cut throat in my area when I started and I thought it would be different. Now, 17 years later, it seems more professional Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint !

I don't remember what I thought it would be like, I just thought I would make a lot of money. I do make some money, but the pleasure I receive for helping someone achieve their dream of home ownership is much more rewarding than the money.

Mark, it's sort of yes to both questions. A lot of it is what I expected, and all of the technical stuff was a surprise.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint the way we do 'transactions' have changed a lot over last decade.
However, the business is still the same - one-to-one, face-to-face and belly-to-belly.
Lead generation methods may have changes, the fundamental that we have to generate leads for the business is still there.
Principals remain the same, techniques change (thanks to Buffini & Company for this insight.)

Having come out of international corporate sales, real estate sales is a 'piece of cake' and it is what you make of it.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint From a technical aspect the real estate business has really changed for the better. On the negative side technology has taken away a lot of the face-to-face aspect of the business.

Real estate is always changing and never remains constant and you have to adapt to the constant cycles and changes .

Mark,
Not to be flippant but it has been so long that I can’t recall what my expectations were.

Ha! No way. We're 7 years in and it has changed every year. We're okay with that, because even with all of the change, the cream rises to the top. Embrace the change.

It's a thousand times better. When I started I thought there is no way I would do this for long. Too much work, too uncertain revenue stream, but you know what, I love it. I wouldn't change a think other than to keep learning and keep working.
