Hey Winston-as a south Floridia I could not live without my heated pool in the backyard!

A 2nd home in Florida, LOL.  Actually many in my county do have that.

Here, it's critical to have hardwood floors and nice kitchen.  Open floor plans are the big thing here now.  So, most have kitchen/family room attached or Kitch/DR.

Snow shovel, snow brush and sun glasses for the glare on the snow!

Air conditioning.

I would add a basement and garage. Though not all homes have a basement, it is so customary that a home on slab is at a disadvantage --- in my humble opinion.

Fireplaces are important, and many times views of the mountains.

Three car garage.

In NH it is a garage to be able to keep that winter cold and snow off the car.

It's hard to decide what's #1. Pools here, ironically are less of a selling  bonus more of a hindrance due to cost and water shortage. Updated kitchen and baths are a given. In San Diego I'd say my top 5 requirements I get told are:

1. walking/biking distance to the beach (coastal buyers)

2. walking distance to stores & restaurants (Downtown & Balboa Park area buyers)

3. School District (all my buyers that are parents of course).

4. Open concept floor-plans: great room that includes the kitchen: (most of my SD house buyers trending right now in the suburbs).

5. Large "outdoor living room" patio/balcony space for entertaining and opening up the living room to the outside. We live outside most of the year here.

most want a large eat-in kitchen that fits the family.... I have a island that fits 10 comfortably and 14 not so comfortably!!  but they all fit.... and they would rather eat there than my formal dining... their choice!!! 

In newer homes, and those built in the 50's and on, many like to have a basement. Older homes, which we have many, will have basements, but usually they cannot be finished out since they are so damp.

I am in Arizona, so Pool is a must have!  Or a community with a pool.

A/C with a 2nd for :Tile floors

In Missouri, basements or storm shelter is important feature for most families. Good question, helps me pause to consider what is important in different locations.

Nice, "gourmet" new or updated kitchen with high end, attractive appliances. But frankly, it's whatever YOUR money buys for you. 

I would have to say great outdoor entertaining areas Winston Heverly ....we have 4 true seasons and we spend most of our time outside!

In my area it is acreage, must have room to roam:)

A garage and basement

Heat and lots of insulation!

Ground floor bedroom with full bath. Seeing many  requests for single story houses or main floor bedroom with full bath for inlaws.

A two car garage and for a lot of folks, a basement.  

Great Schools.  Many of our clients look down on any Elementary School rated below a 10 on Great Schools.

GARAGE(S). The bigger, the better. Everyone has trucks and toys at the River! :D

Almost no outdoor pools here in Colorado. A 3 car garage to keep your cars out of the hail is a big feature.
