For me, eBay has been OK for selling stuff, but not real estate.
CraigsList is excellent for rentals and lower priced homes

Winston, when you say "things" you mean not real estate specific? I use eBay and CL all the time to sell stuff. They are both a great way to get rid of stuff I dont need. I sold my car and some other things on CL and I've sold all kinds of stuf on eBay. Experiences with both are good. My suggestion is never let would-be buyers in your house. If you are selling something big, put it in your garage and have them meet you at your garage. If it's a car, put it on the street. I just dont want anyone coming into my house that I dont know.
As for eBay, they are doing the whole thing online so it doesn't reall matter because people wont be coming over unless you say in your ad Pick Up Only. In which case it should be out of your house - just for safety sake.

Good morning Winston. I promote every property that we flip on Craig's List, it has served me very well.

I've never gotten anything off of ebay or Craigs List to do with real estate. I couldn't even sell my boat on Craigs List.

eBay is okay . . . I bought a few things from there in the past, never sold anything though. Craigs List is okay for many reasons. I found the only of a lost cat . . .which has wondered clear across town (the cat crawled into a vehicle on the east side, and got a ride to the west side). Just with anything else, one has to be careful when buying / selling anything.

Bought and sold items on both eBay and CL. Always met in a public place. Need to know how to avoid scams on CL to be successful, cashier's checks are a big one now. I've seen people get robbed after selling something on CL in a public place. Make sure the buyer leaves well before you do.
I have several rental properties that I own and have found almost all my tenants through CL.

We used Craig's list for leads a few years ago but with changes on Craig's list it doesn't seem as effective for Real Estate as it once was.

I've been selling on Ebay for many years and have been 100% successful with all purchases. I've been using Craigslist for about 10 years. It is very good in getting responses but make sure you know how to post to prevent spammers.

I've sold a few things on eBay over the years. Nothing much to report. It was obviously for non-real estate related items.

Our son uses CraigsList to buy and sell equipment for his landscaping business and has been very successful.

Rentals move well via Craiglist ( low end), but I never tried ebay. Real Bird seems offer posting there. I have to try.

Craigslist is good for selling caars and trucks, but not so good for selling houses.

I have put several things on ebay and sold them but never real estate. I've bought from craigsList but not sold.

Never use either of these for selling real estate but both have been good for selling things.

Haven't sold anything on eBay, only bought. Have had good luck selling things on Craigslist (mostly furniture from rental properties).

I too have had success, right now I'm selling most of my items in my home. Just sold an Eecutive desk set of 6 pieces to a law firm that traveled from the west coast of FL. Items sold for $2600. Currently I have not had success selling furniture on eBay, though my motorcycle just sold and other auto parts.

Craigslist is awesome for promoting rentals. I have purchased things from Craigslist, but I don't like strangers knowing where I live, so I don't sell on Craigslist. I have also purchased from e-bay but do not sell things there.

The only issue I have ever had was with shipping breakable items. No matter how well they were packed, the buyer said they arrived broken. Although it is not a problem with the eBay or Craig's List.

No problems on ebay, but I hate the fee's, no problems on craigslist either. Just be smart about it, if it's something small meet in a public place.
