You don't get a notification when someone "unfollows" you...and I think that's a good thing.
You can tell if SOMEONE unfollowed you if the # of followers goes down. From there, you can see who is still following you. You could try to figure it out, but it would be tedious and prob. a waste of time.

I know when my follower counts drops from 3 to 2. I know it's my sister trying to get my attention.
Be aware, if someone chooses to unfollow it may have nothing to do with your content but everything to do with the time the reader has available. Sometimes you simply need to reduce what's in the queue. They may possess the impression that newer ideas come from younger people.
We are unlikely to ever know.
Well, I better give my sister a call.

As much as it can be a blow to one's self-esteem it really doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

you will not know who it is...and the only way you will know it happened is to note how many you have for followers.... when one train leaves, there's always another one right behind it!!!

The only way that I know of is to keep a list and everytime your number goes down scour the list until you find the defector.
Too time consuming for me so I just mourn their loss and move on.

James Dray why would you want to know it?
A difficult way to keep log is - download the list of followers in a spreadsheet and compare it from time to time. (just kidding....)
And yes, why should one 'unfollow' you?
I learn a lot about people from your posts!

We don't, and why would anyone care anyway? Even if you knew, are you going to sit around trying to guess why? There could be several reasons someone stops following someone else. Maybe they got out of the business, maybe they switched blogging platforms, maybe they are just cutting back to something more manageable for them? It could have nothing to do with you or what you post in your blogs.

The question is why do you care? I don't give a XX's Axx when someone decides to unfollow me for whatever reason. Glad they are not in my life anymore!!!

Track all of your followers and see if one of them has been removed from your followers list.

James - I think the answer is that you really don't receive notification when people stop following you. I think that is probably a good thing, and I wouldn't worry about it so much if it ever happens to you.

I don't think they send out emails when someone unsubscribes from you. You can see how many followers you have on your homepage and keep track that way.

I have not seen any notifications when members stop following.
There are other things to worry about. I follow many more members than follow me.

I think there is a good reason AR is not set up to notify us when someone unfollow us.
I personally don't pay it any attention at all.

My 2 cents: I wouldn't worry about those that leave. Focus on those who follow; continue with great content and leaving your blog won't be an option .
