Captain Wayne - Rowlett Real Estate School you are so right about it! There are some loopholes in the system - so even if you think you are registered, THEY have a way out! Not heard of anyone penalized for this, yet.

For many years it was. Now I'm starting to get these google calls, and it's pissing me off.

I think the do not call list is a communist plot to destroy honest businesses while allowing fake non profits, politicians and other criminals to continue to call me 3000 times a day!

It seems to work for awhile and then it doesn't. I resort to blocking the numbers.

There are always exceptions, but I have seen a big drop in sales calls since this was instituted. I have also let go of my home phone which is the best way to get rid of these calls.

Well because I'm a business I think that's why they're allowed to call us here.

Same. Every time I pick up a phone I ask who is calling. After that I add the name and line ''do not answer''.

I have read that adding your number to the DNC list is a great way to get spam calls because some out-of-country callers apparently use it on that basis to find numbers to call.

Me either; however once we got rid of our land line I hardly get telemarketing calls on my cell phone.

Captain Wayne - I do think calls stopped for a short while, but they are certainly back in full force now.

I agree it has not been effective. I added my cell # also and that has not slowed down solicitors from calling me. I just block them on my cell so I do not receive calls, emails or text from them,

Tammy Lankford makes a good point. I find most of the unwanted calls we get are in the exempt category. IMO it is much too broad.

It is no longer effective for our home phone number. On some days, I am tempted to change the number we have used for many years.

As soon as I have an inkling of it being a sale call, I blurt out, "this is a do not call number.." and they will either hang up or apologize and generally do not call back.

So many people are "exempt", surveyors, politicians, people you have done business with. It's not supposed to be used for business lines. I finally turned off my phone number because that's all we ever got.

I don't think it has ever been effective, then again with our business who knows how we get on some call lists. It's never ending!

Captain Wayne - Rowlett Real Estate School I'm getting more calls than ever. Telemarketers have devised a way to spoof cell phone number. I'm sure they are very difficult to trace. My call blocker is working overtime. I still turn them to to the Do Not Call list. Hopefully, they are still following up on these.

If you use your cell phone as your business line, adding it to the do not call list doesn't work. But on an Iphone, you can block spam numbers forever and never, ever have to hear from them again. Not sure about Androids.
