The answer should be simple BUT... what if the agent doesn't want to be found by that person? :-( I would never encourage a buyer/seller to work with me if they are working with another agent but, this might not be a buyer or seller at all. I'm not sure we should do their detective work. I'd probably just say, I'm sorry but he/she doesn't work here. If, however, I was in an office where that agent had worked... and moved... I would probably give them the number if I had it.

True story, this happened to me several years ago. Person was looking for this agent by name - I didn't know the person - so I asked the normal "is there something that we can assist you with?" question. Turned out the person he was looking for used to do rentals for him in an office that claimed to be the owner of my independently owned franchised office (tsk, tsk) so I had no problem whatsoever in doing the next thing. Taking the listing for his mother's estate and her $1 million home which we were able to sell in-house to a developer client with another agent's client who actually knew the family and basically sealed the deal with the son/administrator who contacted my office. Three years later, we still meet for lunch whenever he is in town!
