Sometimes, some stick around because their clients just don't know they are like that. Just something we have to deal with in this business, I learned to get deals done with them...and make them pay a little more because it makes me feel good.

No I know of several that are still around and I dread having to work with them. So far they still seem to get the business because the are nice to their clients and just bully us agents.

No, I see plenty of them in the real world and on Active Rain.

Unfortunately not, they do weed plenty of other people out though.

Are you talking about your local market? I can't think of any bullies...

You would think so, but I know a few, including bully women who have been doing it for years.

I hope so! I have had two bully agents recently. I usually grin an accept from my clients sake. But after closing and will email them an explain they should change jobs and here is why.

Not really. We have some bully agents who have been in the business since I was in diapers.

lots of answers here, we all know how to deal with bullies. lots of adolescent movies out there with examples. 2) when representing clients and the other agent is the bully, i would simply tell my client that this agent is very difficult to deal with. difficult deals aren't just a pain, they often lead to bad results. I would have never in my single days gone out with someone who my friend said they were bad news, not even if they were amazingly beautiful. see the big picture for you and your client. if all else fails, give me their number. Guido will pay a visit. :)

They tend to screw themselves out of more commission, to be frank, because then offices don't want to work with them.

I have not run into many, but think when the market changes, they will be weeded out!

Shanna Day Mega Team Leader (UT & AZ) Usually agents who intimidate other agents find they are alone in this world. Don't let this person get to you.

You'd think they would lose clients right and left. Had one belittle a property that his client was putting in an offer on. Do you think the offer was accepted? Nope, after my listing client heard that remark (yes, I tell my client these things) the next in line was accepted. I felt that the first offer could be problematic with that attitude going in.

I can only hope. Though I've seen some local bullies that have a lot of staying power.

A bully is a coward needing to be stopped. Their fate is in place and the meeting guranteed

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I posed the question, because once again, I've come across an agent that feels that the best way to get "his" way is to bully, badger and be-little. I would rather not work with this guy, but for my clients sake, I'll work through it. :)

Shanna,
I have not met any bullies in the real estate world...Why are we focusing on those who are anything but great agents...the others don't need our attention or focus, that is how they will weed themselves out. A

No.
However, it is important to make the distinction between bullies and belligerent. The latter will fade into the sunset. (note: when they run out of fabric, they rely on volume and belligerence)
When dealing with bullies, you simply don't blink first. IF a known bully is in front of your listing that requires 24 hr notice....don't blink. Schedule it for tomorrow and allow only one option of your choice, if you allow any option at all. If you start going backwards it accelerates their behavior.
When they find themselves throttled, you can predict they will be on AR babbling 'raise the bar' nonsense.
How do you think a bully would describe him/her self?
