A personalized cutting board and a Cutco knife. If the sale is substantial they get two knives. It has my name and number engraved on them.

Good Morning Lise! I always give my buyers a gift at closing. I like to give each client something different. I typically get a gift card to a store that fits the style or decor of their home and I put it in a card with a personalized written note of appreciation and best wishes.
Do you give your sellers a gift as well? I always question whether or not I should be doing that.

We stopped giving closing gifts years ago. It didn't hurt our business at all.

I have this thing about knives as a gift (don't ask why). I send cakes in a personalized to me tin from PennStreet Bakery with a note that says it was sweet working with them if they were a seller and wishing them many sweet years in there home if they were a buyer. People love these cakes!

thats not easy, if we are feeling it... sometimes we just throw the keys at them and run lol... ours is a bit different relationship, after like a year knowing them. we usually do something as a surprise that we KNOW they will enjoy, after getting to know their taste..

I do Cutco for higher end homes also, sometimes something more simple that helps with moving or the new home. We do get that nice Lowes giftcard discount as Realtors.

Generally handing the keys over at closing suffices. In tough instances, a kick in the pants is even better.

I give one as well and it varies as to age group and if there are children. It is mostly food related they could use after a day of moving and not have to cook.

I like to give something with shelf life...not something consumable. I do give out a lot of atomic clocks. People seem to like those. I actually asked one buyer what she would like. She told me cleaning supplies. So I bought a bucket and loaded it up with supplies.

Yes, I try to give a closing gift to all customers.
A few weeks back an agent in my office asked what I thought about giving a bottle of wine to customers with a custom personalized logo. We called the "wine guy" and he held a wine tasting at our office. Which was very fun! I purchased five cases at a cost of about $9.50 per bottle. It's not something that I will give to every customer but I definitely think its a good marketing gift.
I would be happy to send you a photo of the wine bottle with my custom logo if you like.

Lise Howe - yes, and it is different for each of them. I know them a bit more and give them a gift that they will love it.
And if they have kids, usually, a subscription to Highlight magazine...

I would give a gift card to the parents and another one at a sporting good store for the kids.... I spent $500 total....
