I do not write blogs for the search engines. Most of my blogs are localisms and relate to our community and my personal activities. 

I do not recommend my practices for those who need to generate an income.

For us, it's about 40% for AR members and 60% for the search engines. 

I hope at least some of my attract some kind of attention from somebody/thing!

The ones I write on my wordpress site are for my customers and then optimized for SEO.  And, they seem to be doing pretty well as I get over 50,000 unique visitors/month.  I have 2 articles w/ over 100,000 clicks all together and 5 articles getting over 5,000 clicks/month.  And, we are getting many many calls/customers, so it seems to be working.

I then syndicate those here.  I leverage AR to backlink to my site.  I also write some fun posts here (generally members only), posts that help me clear my head and a some for members and to build relationships...and other ones w/ the purpose of backlinking.

There are many here writing posts just for points.  There are many here trying to write for search but just don't know how. And, there are many doing things very well.  You have the whole gamut.

Oh, and not sure what you mean by relevancy scores/how you are assessing.  Relevant to what?

Maybe a little of both. 

Mostly for the SEO, but want to write posts that would appeal to those that come by and comment every day.   After all, you can only write so many market reports that would appeal day after day!

Gary - I write my blogs for the reader, and hope that I also include enough SEO juice to make it relevant. Most times I probably fall short on optimizing it for the search engines, but I also need to be more consistent and post more frequently.

I write 3 types of blogs, most to reach new clients, some to address AR. I always strive for adding in key workds, terms and such to rise in the google ranks to be found.
