No.  I have a friend who was working in his office overlooking the pool, where his young squealing girls and their friends were splashing in the pool (having a blast).  He called the police after seeing a head peek up from behind the high fence.  Ends up this pedophile lived suburbs away...was driving around, heard the squeals of these girls in this private cul-de-sac, and walked through yards to peek over the fence, while he was "busy" with himself. 

So, it doesn't matter where they live, as they will seek it.  No different from an addict of other sorts.  Watch your kids, teach them properly and beyond that call the police when something is odd.

The only time I was on that database was many years ago and there were so many perverts everywhere, that if I had not stopped looking, I may have wanted to move.

In Canada, the public does not have access to the National Sex Offender Registry. It is a database maintained by the RCMP that provides Canadian police services with important information that will improve their ability to investigate and prevent crimes of a sexual nature.

I do not check. Some of the people on that list does not deserve to be there. I'd suggest them to check on their own if it is important and if someone does bother them, it is up to them what they want to do about it. Talking to neighbors would be a good start.

It's a buyer responsibility to check out that information. Although in one case that did come up in a land transaction I was doing. It's the most beautiful piece of mountain land with great views. The buyers were going to build there. The offender was at least five acres away and a renter. I was given that information about the neighbor being a sex offender. I gave it to the buyers. 

I found them another property. 

I have never checked.  Many of them are on there for  spouse abuse, so I play it by ear. I have never had a problem.  Women agents would have more of an interest in doing that.

That is part of one of our disclosures....and you don't have to look too far in any neighborhood to find one.

Never have and probably won't Gary.  These lists can be so deceiving as some folks really shouldn't be on the list.

I've got Sasquatch in the back seat and the buyer shares, "It may be important for you to know Annette, that I am on the sexual predator list for a event that occurred 37 years ago, as a 19 year old a day before I was deployed."

Do I subject myself to the possible outcome of other agents being able to say "Annette allowed a predator to move into this neighborhood. List with me."

I would take measure the character of the one seated beside me and respond properly.

No, I have only looked at the list once myself and found it to vague to be of any use.  No way to tell the difference between a real predator and some college kid who too a public wiz behind the bar.

wow.... if my BUYERS were on a list.... that Gary, is one to ponder. i think this ties into a post i made regarding making a sale with a better than average of getting sued. Neither is good. But i would have to pass on selling to them... then i would get sued! :)

I'm not sure the database is complete and your recommendation could be viewed as "steering" because of your own personal beliefs.  It's the same as telling some one "here's a map of gay-friendly communities in the state" - not something a licensee should be doing.

We do not.  They are all around and I wouldn't be surprised if we had one in our development, oh well.
