Smaller banks like who I work for are great. Since we have everyone in house (underwriting, processing, funding) we can make things move in a way that brokers can't .

Banker - and I have one I prefer over others. I have run in to issues with mortgage brokers. All is well when things are going smoothly, but when the inevitable bump appears in the road, I can't stand the "out of my hands" response from anyone that positions themselves outside of the flow, regardless of title. A criteria for being on my preferred list is that you will get off your behind and make things happen.

I am not a realtor, but a reverse mortgage loan officer. It really depends on the situation. Banks have programs that mortgage brokers do not have sometimes and sometimes mortgage brokers have programs the banks don't have. I think its good to have a couple different resources for getting what is best for the client.
