I can't tell you how many times I have seen a picture of an agent and then met them in person and not recognize them I don't think it's good for business. I look a lot different than I did in high school....

Well in Florida our drivers licenses are good for 8 years. A real estate guru spoke at a seminar I attended and said in his early days he was meeting up with another Realtor. When she arrived he shouted "Woha!!!!!!What happened to you." Obviously Glamour Shots. We do not have business card photos or sign cards. We think it's ridiculous. Too much vanity. This really is a business. My doctor doesn't have his picture on his business card.

While I know my picture from 15 years ago is prettier, I would hate to get the comment "You don't look like this picture"or "I did not recognize you from your picture"...I suppose I will just have to use the "real me" picture...I wish I had saved all my business cards from the past 29 years:) I could do a marketing piece...Which Julie Bryan did you buy from???

I have seem ActiveRain MeetUp photographs where I did not recognize the members from their profile photographs.
Failure to update personal photographs is an indication of sloppy marketing efforts.

Take yourself out of the real estate agent silliness and observe how others address this issue. Those who are REALLY in the public eye.
When promoting their tours do they use their Big Day glamour shots or ones that really show 40 years have past?
The correct answer is you use the photo that will get the response you want. That is marketing done well.
Your office rule is just a broker showing you who is in charge.
Don't we find the silliest things to distract us?

Virtual Realty Consultants Could be agents just plain forget to update their photo. On the other hand, every time I look at my photo I look the same. Why change it?

I feel that your photo should be updated every 2 years, or sooner if you decide to change your appearance (ie. hair color, etc...)
