I believe I have mastered my craft about as well as anyone can in a constantly changing environment. But I'm also always mastering new ideas, new techniques, new systems. So it's an ongoing process. But when it comes to the basic aspects of selling/buying real estate, there aren't too many agents out there who are better than me.

I have spoken to many masters and read many books on the subject.  I have not met or read aboutanyone who feels they have mastered their craft.  We have more than 10,000 hours of practice in several fields, and I am still learning...

I think when someone gets on their high horse and claims to be a master, it just goes to show they are not.  There is always a nuance to learn in perfecting one's art...A

Good morning Michael. I wish I could say I have mastered what I do for a living, but am pretty damn good at what I do for a living.

Make it a great weekend!

What Nina Hollander said!  In the CONSTANTLY changing environment, we have to be able to not only see it coming, but adapt.  And survive.  We don't sell, we don't eat!  Simple as that.  Not many people can forage as we do, and make it.   The belittling of our industry sickens me.  Everyone thinks they are a real etate agent now because they can look at listings on a website.

Michael Thornton I believe you can be very good at what you do. However, in this business whenever you think you know it all, something new always comes up. We're always in a learning mode.

No way - still learning! Have you read the Miracle Morning for Realtors- it talks about the need to keep learning - to become a better person to create the success we want.  eMy son and daughter in law are in town and we are going to a baseball game tomorrow - I can talk Monday if that works for you. I have an appointment Monday at 10 and want to have lunch w/ my buyer agent but other than that I can have our accountability check in - Let me know!

Thats a tough one, I think I mastered the pricing and negotiaiton. It's hard to master the art of lead generation and marketing, what we studied and  applied 10 years ago does not work anymore so that in my opinion is never mastered.

With technology changing so fast in marketing  you could say we start back at 200 hours once we hit 3000 in that field! Google loves keeping us on our toes.

I don't know where that number came from, even though I certainly agree that it takes that many or more.  How is it that we have so many in our profession who are left on their own, even though they have little or no expertise?  I get tired of messing with them in co-ops, especially when I end up having to do their work for them as well as my own.

By the way, I'm getting ready to begin my 50th year as a broker.

I feel like I am still learning every day.  I was license in 1984 with not internet so I had to learn the technology of working on marketing through the internet etc.  I have come a long way but you can always learn new tricks.  Just like I learn something new about horses after 42 years of owning and training.
