I have had guest bloggers on my personal blog but not on AR. I have done so when I see something that I would repost, if it were on AR. AR is unique in that respect.

In the real I email the author and ask if they would be kind enough to let me put their post up on my blog giving them full credit and a link to their web site or blog. I've been turned down a couple of times but I've also had some great posts up on my site from some great writers and my clients benefit from being able to find information on my blog on subjects that I'm not qualified to write about.

BTW, I think your idea for the AllAboutPrescott.com web site is a great idea, Prescott is such a beautiful community and I'm sure there are some great stories and storytellers in Prescott. I wish you all the best!

Not on my own website.  I will do not do that because strategically it's not what I want to do.  All the content is mine and many have asked and I have never accepted nor would I.

HOWEVER, for what you are trying to achieve for that blog, I think it is perfect.  It's a very smart strategy.  You may look for a few in the community already writing..as some may want to do for free as an oppy to guest blog and get some backlinks (I have done this for several realtors and it was a win win).  Neil Patel writes about your idea in this post (as well as several others).

It can be a very smart approach and works great for what you are trying to achieve.  I think he has also mentioned this concept in Neilpatel.com.

It's much better to do this way (where it is original content) vs. what Nancy has done (where it's duplicate content...so hers doesn't drive traffic.)  But, her concept is still great as it gives her users great info.

I have used a few guest blogs but that has not been an effective option for me.

I think you can get better results with Facebook groups that allow community participation.

I do not.  We are very specific about our real estate blogs.  In your case I think it's a great idea to have "guest bloggers".

Hi John Mosier!! I have accepted guest posts in the past and I've written on several blogs as a contributor and I think it is a great way to widen your online community (and your brand) but there is one BIG red flag you should know about:

-Those who only want a link: Usually you'll be able to tell the difference between an actually interested reader from a link builder. The reason behind being wary of link builders is because they might add links into their content to sketchy sites they are trying to build up in the search engine. Google will notice your site linking to them and will flag you with a penalty if is bad enough. This means you'll lose all your rankings and it will be very difficult for people to find you on the web.

To avoid this from happening, you can: 1) no follow all outgoing link from guest posters (just keep in mind outgoing links to high quality resources does show Google you are resourceful and helps in your rankings). 2) When you read over guest posts delete or no follow any irrelevant link (they are usually to company pages/products) unless you think it is a worthwhile link to include.

By following these two rules you can take full advantage of guest posters' knowledge and their social network while retaining your website's authority.

Regarding payment, try to get other bloggers who are interested in building their authority online and are willing to do it for free. You can even strike a deal with one of those community spokesmen where they can tout their business horn on the blog in their byline for quality Prescott guest posts.

If you have further questions feel free to message me!
