Yes Debbie, watch out. No legit person would do this. I would run a complete scan on your computer. Do you know how to remove Windows Temp files and cookies? I would not worry too much, he was probably just fishing but say Adios if this happens again.

Yes. The same guy might call you and say he is with the IRS or your credit card company.

Absolutely! Microsoft NEVER calls anybody. If you call them, you may have trouble reaching them!

It is a scam. I have received such calls and when I tell them I do not have a computer they hang up.

Had it happen to me more than once.  It's a scam, save your time

Run away, and block the telephone number.

It is actually not a scam. However, the caller has no connection with Micorsoft.

They will remotely scan your system for bugs, remove AND install SVA virus software (the free stuff)  for the $90 you will pay.

Becuase they DO deliver a service, it not a scam.

However, the consumer should always say NO to those who intentionly misrepresent themselves. 

There is a more destructive 'ON LINE' virus cleaning company that at the click of a button scans your computer, finds 427 dangerous bugs, and wants $150 dollars to remove them. When you say no, you find out one of the bugs is a increasingly frequent 'pop up' rendering your internet browser extremely difficult, reminding you that for $100 you can remove the 427 dangerous bugs and THIS POPUP.  And the pop up is the only problem you really have.

Now that IS a scam.

Oh yes!  These scammers come up with ever more schemes to get access to your information. Be aware.

Yes it's a scam.  I got a call tonight saying that the IRS was going to arrest me tonight unless I paid up my back taxes.  I don't have back taxes, the IRS NEVER calls and neither does Microsoft.

Yes, it's a scam. Been going around for a while. I received a call as well about a year ago and after I played around with him for awhile, I told him I use a Mac!  <click>  BTW, I don't use a Mac!

If you never called someone, NEVER give out any information.  As an agent, your number is probably in a million places, accessible to strangers.  Stranger danger...remember! 

It's hard enough to get technical support when you call them. Trust me, they're not calling you.
