Paul,

I happily take off my shoes if that is what is requested, and live in the land of the sandals and flip flops, I think it would work to have someone provide booties.

Sandaled feet are not necessarily the cleanest!  At the airport, when I think about it, I have tennis socks that are easy to slip on in my purse, if I remember to take them out.

In a Japanese home, one always takes of their shoes and is given socks, and we do the same in our yoga studio.  We take off our shoes prior to entering the room (no socks needed).  The people's problem has nothing to with your request, it has to do with the fact that they are the wrong people for the house in my opinion. A

We don't get much rain or have mud so normally shoes are ok in homes.  If we are notified to remove we do so.

Paul S. Henderson for religious reasons, my clients do not want the buyers to wear shoes in their homes when they are listed. And I do provide booties.

During rain and snow days, I request buyers to remove shoes (or wear shoe covers) whether they are doing a showing or at an open house.

I don't normally take my shoes off or ask that of my buyers UNLESS there is a sign in place...and/or booties present. If so, I will certainly ask my buyers to abide by the homeowner's request.

Paul S. Henderson Very few remove their shoes. We do provide booties and even then few use them. Fortunately, it has been so dry and hot, there is very little tracked into the homes.

Interestingly, I've not had clients refuse to take shoes off when requested. But at an open house, better to provide booties just in case.

I believe agents should provide booties if they require buyers to remove shoes. I do so.

Good morning Paul. When we have an open house for the homes we flip, shoes must come off, I have mine off, so folks get the idea very quickly.

Make it a great week!

I dislike that so much. I find it hard to take my shoes off in many cases and then I am hopping around the foyer trying to pull of my boots.

No, I do not do either. If the house warrants no shoes I will leave mine at the door and people will follow suite.

yes, and yes..... in my own home, everyone who enters will take their shoes off....my children do the same....that's how they were brought up....it's disrespectful to enter someone's home with shoes on....I always had socks on.... I actually remember in my early years in this business, one of my first listings was because I was the only agent who removed her shoes in the entry way.... it's respectful.

I do put a sign out to please remove shoes especially if the home is all hardwoods.

#1 not all ladies shoes are in good shape and can dent the hardwoods.

#2 if it is wet and/or muddy out ~ some people need a reminder to remove shoes.

In Hawaii the norm is to remove your shoes when entering any house, including your own home. I provide booties when I know it's important (freshly cleaned light carpeting, newly finished wood floors, etc.).

Hi Paul -- I take off my shoes in my own home -- but I don't wear booties.

Depending on the sellers' requests some ask that no shoes be worn in the house -- when that is the case, booties are required.

I am personally not a fan of booties as there have been some issues with how slippery they can be.

And one thing I have learned after years in real estate -- loafers are my shoes of choice.
