Hi Paul -- one significant situation when I was fairly new to the business. A lease property I was showing to a very pregnant client had an automatic gate that mysteriously closed on us while in the house.
I had to jump over the security fence and shimmy open the gate and in the process ripped my suit pants beyond repair. I returned to the office and the receptionist said in a very dead pan manner -- rough client, huh?

After Hurricane Katrina I ruined just about all my dress / work pants. Walking thur gutted homes with nails sticking out was not good. All I had left was Blue Jeans. Ten years later I mainly wear Blue Jeans everyday. I'm still going in gutted property's.

I threw away a pair of shoes after walking around a house where the dog had never been let outside for years, other filth had piled up and a dead body had been in there for over a week in the heat. The house wasn't cleaned when I went in there. I didn't know any of this information about the house when I opened the front door. I found it all out shortly later. It was bank owned, and the bank did get the trash out, but made anyone that wanted to show it, and the prospective buyers, sign a waiver before they went in the house. It sold for land value only.

I had to throw away one set of clothing because the mold and odor in one foreclosures was so terrible. Bagged it in our garage before entering our home.

I have snagged several pairs of pants while climbing over fences and I have walked in plenty of wet grass and mud. You need to be prepared for the conditions.

lol, many. I made the mistake of wearing my "good" leather jacket showing properties, nail on the door caught the back of the jacket, and tore it. Could not get it fixed and lost a $700 dollar leather jacket. I work in Tucson, AZ and it gets HOT showing properties in the summer (it was 95 degrees today). I wear dry fit polo's, dress slacks, and dress shoes. I see many agents in town showing in shorts, I refuse to do it as I dress like a professional.
Good question Paul S. Henderson.

none - I wear clothing appropriate for where I will be - on the beach it is sandals and Capri time with a light pullover.

I have been in some fairly scary short sale homes. One home in particular was the scariest. While walking up the stairs, I could feel my shoes becoming wet, along with the smell of cat urine. Those shoes were thrown out as soon as the showing was over.

I ruined one pair of shoes showing land when I was showing my first parcel, and from that point forth, work construction boots and jeans....

Paul,
Since I always wore high heels, I was smart enough to have shoes for signt visits during constructions, shoes for showing industrial property, etc. I have inadvertently had paint on my clothes or lots of dust on my pant legs as we walked in to suites that were being built out. A

Many shoes have been ruined where the leather was torn or they got so muddy I had to wash them. I have gotten clothes dirty but never ruined any that I can remember.
